Mesquite Elementary

Week of July 7, 2025
Notes from Norburg
Dear Mesquite Elementary Families,
Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year! I am excited to welcome our new families to Mesquite and to see familiar faces of all of our returning families! We have been working hard throughout the summer to plan instructionally as well as logistically for this coming year!
The front office will reopen for the upcoming school year on Monday, July 7th. We are excited to have so many of our Preschool Advantage and Building Blocks students continuing with us in Preschool, Building, Blocks, and/or Kindergarten. Information about Kindergarten Round Up on Monday, July 14th can be using this link.
Class lists will be available on Infinite Campus on Wednesday, July 16th at 4:00 p.m. Please be sure to complete your Annual Update beginning in July so that we have the most up to date contact information and you are able to see who your child's teacher will be. More information about Infinite Campus can be found below.
We look forward to seeing all Building Blocks, Preschool, and Kinder through 6th Grade students at Meet the Teacher Night on Friday, July 18th from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The first day of school will be on Tuesday, July 22nd!
One of the best ways to help your child to be most successful at school is to be involved as well as a family! We encourage you to be a part by joining our PTSO! More information about our PTSO can be found in the PTSO Section at the bottom of the weekly newsletters!
We hope you have a fun and safe rest of the summer!
Sincerely,
Wendy Norburg
Campus Updates
Summer Projects
It has been a busy summer with painting projects in multiple classrooms this summer! Thank you to our PTSO who partnered with us to complete some campus projects! We couldn't do it without the support of our families and PTSO! This summer each classroom will starting the year with new Chromebook carts. A special thank you to our technology department for setting up the new carts and to our PTSO for helping us to purchase the carts! We appreciate our building manager, William Erickson, and our custodial crew, Mrs. Maria Avila, Mr. Danny Joe Gonzalez, and Mrs. Rocio Carbajal-Baez who have been working hard painting classrooms as well as deep cleaning the campus to get ready for the upcoming school year! Mrs. Janine and Ms. Mary have both helped with painting too! Mrs. Sturdevant is working on a fun new design for the library windows as well that we hope to add this year!

Mesquite St & 29th Pl (ST1620/ST2117) Improvement Projects PROJECT UPDATE
Provided below is current upcoming construction information based on the current schedule. Please remember schedules can be impacted by various factors, to include weather, materials scheduling and availability of resources, coordination with other projects or utilities, and neighborhood or school activities. A project description and exhibits from the public meeting are available on the project webpage. Mesquite Street and 29th Place will remain open for travel with a flagger activity in place, as needed, to shift traffic away from the work zone. Pedestrian traffic may be shifted to the opposite side of the street, away from the work area, in the interest of safety. Access to residences and the school will be maintained. Please maintain safe speeds and obey traffic and construction signage, as it is placed for your safety and the safety of travelers and construction crews. In addition, please do not disturb workers as they are given specific tasks, working within allowable rights-of-way or easements, which need to be completed to maintain the project schedule.
