State-Bound!
The SHS Boys' Cross Country Team is headed for State!
Members placed 3rd at both the NEC and Region tournaments this past week and earned their trip to the state meet in Huron on Saturday, October 25th.
The team is made up of Ryder (4th place), Brett (7th), Noah (10th), Everett (42nd), Landyn (55th) and Derrick (56th). Both Derrick and Landyn set personal records at the meet.
Congratulations and best of luck to the whole team!
Oral Interp is A-MAZE-ING!
After winning superior awards at the Florence Oral Interp competition last week, the interp team took in a corn maze, sponsored by that school's FFA organization. While the teammates couldn't act or talk their way out of that situation, they still managed to make it home safe to spend the week practicing and prepping for tournaments in Hamlin on Saturday and Arlington next Monday. The NEC meet for the interp team will be held the 27th of October.
Cheers to the End of the Quarter!
The "Redmen Chefs" from Mrs. Lehrke's class provided great service and smiles during their delivery of root beer floats to staff on Thursday as a way to celebrate the closing of the first quarter. An emphasis on quality service, cleanliness, presentation, and--of course--taste were highlights of this treat!
Homework Help
Stay caught up with your homework and grades by participating in Homework Help every Thursday in the SHS library from 3:20-5:00 pm. Come for a quiet space to work and extra support from teachers.
Culture Night Held at PAC
Last Friday, members of the public were treated to a night of learning about the legacy and history of the Philippines through song, dance, and story telling at the Flipino Cultural Extravaganza. Staff and students of SHS showcased their talents and shared pieces of the culture on the stage for all to enjoy.
