FALL INTO LEARNING!

🐾 Dear Booker Families,

Welcome back from Fall Break! We hope you are rejuvenated and ready for five weeks of FOCUSED INSTRUCTION and FESTIVE FALL FUN before Thanksgiving Break! As we begin the second nine weeks, we are excited to provide meaningful learning experiences that keep our scholars engaged, challenged, and growing.

Every day and every minute matters! Please ensure your child attends school daily, arrives on time, and stays until dismissal as much as possible. Consistent attendance helps students build skills, maintain routines, and receive the instruction and support they need to succeed.

This nine weeks, I challenge every parent and every family to take a closer look at what your child can do academically. Grades tell part of the story, but seeing your child read, explain a math strategy, or write a response helps you understand their strengths and where they need support.

Over the next few weeks, make time to:

  • Minimize table time, maximize family bonding time!
  • Read together and ask your child to explain what they read.

  • Review schoolwork together. Ask, “How did you get your answer?” and “Can you show me?”

  • Discuss friendships, feelings, and choices. Social growth matters, too!

  • Connect with your child’s teacher about current performance, progress, and ways to practice at home and ensure you have questions for your child's teacher on how to assist .

Our goal is for every scholar to make at least one year’s worth of academic growth or more. Reaching that goal takes a strong partnership between home and school, clear expectations, and consistent support.

Parent Conferences are November 3. Come prepared to discuss your child’s strengths, assessment results, academic and social needs, and next steps. Together, we can set meaningful goals and identify how we will support progress at school and at home.

Also, mark your calendars for our Family Feast on November 20! 🐾 We look forward to coming together to celebrate together. Additional details will be shared soon. Thank you for your continued partnership. Let’s make these next five weeks count with focused learning, meaningful engagement, and plenty of Bengal spirit!

Getting Booker Better Faster in Meets and Masters! Our students are worth whatever it takes!

No Badge, No Ride Policy started September 14th

The “No Badge, No Ride” policy, took effect September 14 for all students who ride the bus. This safety initiative, introduced last year and continuing this school year, requires every student to have their ID badge to board the bus, ensuring proper tracking as students badge on and off.

PARENTS, WE HAVE BEEN PROVIDING YOUR CHILD WITH A TEMPORARY ID AND WILL NO LONGER ALLOW THEM TO GET ON THE BUS!

WE NEED YOUR HELP! PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR CHILD WEARS THEIR BADGE TO SCHOOL!

  • Student Requirement: Students must have their ID to ride. Please find a way to remind your child to wear their badges daily!

  • We encourage you to download the Smart Tag app for real-time tracking. Visit Smart Tag Website for more details

  • Lost Badges: Replacement badges will cost $5. Parents, please come to the front office to buy a replacement or send the $5 with your child. We will print a new badge for your child. However, be mindful that replacement badges do not have student pictures on them.

We appreciate your support in the implementation of this district policy and ensuring we have a smooth transition on September 14th!

Best regards,

Spring ISD Transportation Department

Every day in school is an opportunity to learn, connect and grow. When students are present, they build stronger relationships, stay engaged in their learning and take another step toward reaching their goals.

This month, we’re reminding every Spring ISD student: Your Presence Matters. Being here. Being engaged. Being part of your school community. It all matters. Let’s make every school day count!

Estar presente. Participar. Ser parte de tu comunidad escolar. Todo cuenta. ¡Hagamos que cada día de clases cuente!

WALKER PROCEDURES

Walker Parents,

For safety and accountability, the walker dismissal option may not be used to bypass the car-rider line or as an alternate parent pick-up location. Before dismissal, staff verify each student’s designated transportation method. Students identified as walkers are then escorted as a group to the designated release point at the intersection of Doubletree Glen Lane and Imperial Valley Drive, near the neighborhood entrance. Staff members do not walk students to their homes or release individual walkers directly to parents along the route.

If you select “walker” as your child’s transportation method, you are responsible for ensuring that your child:

  • Knows the complete and safest route home;
  • Can travel from the designated release point safely and independently; and
  • Has appropriate supervision or a family safety plan in place after release.

For safety reasons, we strongly discourage students below second grade from walking without an older sibling or responsible relative accompanying them. Once students are released at the designated walker location, families assume responsibility for their supervision and safe travel home. Please select the transportation method that accurately reflects how your child will leave campus. Parents who wish to receive their child directly from a staff member must use the school’s established dismissal procedure for that transportation method, including the car-rider line when applicable.

Also, all walkers should have a poncho or umbrella in their backpacks for unexpected showers. We do not hold walkers on rainy days, but rather only on days where we receive weather advisory warnings from Harris County or if it is lightning. When we hold walkers, we will need you to proceed to the car rider line to get your child. Please place a sign in the window with your child's name on it or you may come and get a car rider sign to always have one readily available.

Thank you for helping us maintain a safe, orderly, and accountable dismissal process for every Bengal.
