This event requires students to have a 2.0 or higher G.P.A. (grade point average) and appropriate school conduct. Teacher Appreciation Week

Teacher Appreciation Week is May 2-6, 2022. We are saying 'thank you’ this week, and throughout the year, to the extraordinary educators who have worked tirelessly with students and families to keep things moving forward, despite such an unpredictable year. Our SOON Staff continues to commit their efforts to make certain that each and every student is college and career ready!

STEAM Building Update

As you can see, our STEAM building has come a long way. While we were hoping to move in for the fall semester of 2022, the anticipated completion date has been shifted to October 2022. This is due to supply chain issue causing the delay of materials needed to complete the building. We are collaboratively working with the contractor, our site and district colleagues and look to move forward as soon as we are ready to move in. In the meantime, we continue to prepare for the start of the new year and will adjust and update you all accordingly as more information becomes available.

TESTING

CAASPP/CAA

State testing is finishing up! Our 7th, 8th and 11th grade students have been assessed in ELA, Mathematics and Science. We will be conducting make-up testing this week to ensure all students have completed this important series of tests. The data collected from these assessments will drive our instruction moving forward. Please be sure your students are in attendance and on time for make-up testing this week!

Materials return is on campus again this year. Students will come with their class and return materials during 1st period on their scheduled return date listed below. These dates are before finals, so we understand if students cannot bring some of their materials back at their scheduled time. Where necessary, students can come to the library on their own time as soon as they are done with the book or item if they need it for finals.

We are also collecting all chromebooks and hotspots this year. Seniors and 8th graders will return their chromebooks and hotspots as soon as they no longer need it, or immediately after their finals at the latest. 7th, 9th, 10th, and 11th graders will return their chromebooks as soon as they no longer need it, and there will be opportunities for them to return chromebooks on the last day of school, up to and including after the final bell rings.

  • Seniors: Be sure to return all materials before May 27th. Seniors who do not clear all library obligations (including chromebooks and hotspots) may be unable to attend specific activities and/or have their diploma and graduation ticket withheld.

  • “Materials” = Textbooks, library books, class novels, chromebooks, chargers, hotspots, and anything checked out through the library. Yes, all chromebooks and hotspots will be returned at the end of the year this year. New materials will be distributed at the beginning of the year next year (and at the beginning of summer school where necessary). Any summer reading books for next year's AP courses do not need to be returned until next year.

  • Materials / fines from other schools should be returned / paid to that school site.

  • Blackboard emails and calls will go out to students and parents throughout May that will let them know what materials are under their name.

  • Students and parents can also check their library account status at any time at: busdlibrary.follettdestiny.com > Mayfair Middle and High School > Log In (Top Right) Log in using the student’s Google account credentials. This is what students use to log in at school each day > My Info (Top Left)

Frequently Asked Questions

My student does not have an item or items that is on their account and/or they have fines to clear up. What do I do? Please ask the student to look a second (and third!) time for the item(s). If they can still no longer find it, they can pay for it at the accounting window on campus.

Why are students returning chromebooks and/or hotspots? We are collecting all chromebooks and hotspots to help us implement a better system of technology distribution and use for the 2022/2023 school year and beyond.

My student’s return date is before finals. Can they return the book/books they need after their final? Yes. Students absolutely can and should hold on to any book or item they need until they no longer need it for school. The return dates are a convenient time for large numbers of students to return materials, but by no means obligate the students to return everything at exactly that time. Just be sure to return all materials as soon as you no longer need them. Seniors must be in good standing with the library or they may not be able to attend certain activities and diplomas may be withheld.

There is an item on my student’s account that shouldn’t be there. What do I do? Students can come to the library to speak with us about any material that they believe should not be on their account.
