Shady Grove Matters
November 16, 2025
ADMINISTRATOR'S CORNER
Dear Shady Grove Families,
We’re excited to share some important upcoming events with you:
November 20 – Strathmore Latin Strings Concert
7:00 PM at Damascus High School
Join us for an unforgettable evening at the Strathmore Latin Strings Concert! Our talented student musicians have been working hard to prepare a vibrant program filled with energy, rhythm, and beautiful Latin-inspired melodies. It’s a wonderful opportunity to celebrate their dedication, enjoy great music, and support our school community. We hope to see you there for a night that promises to be both inspiring and uplifting!
November 21 – Turkey Trot
Get ready to gobble up some fun at this year’s Turkey Trot! Whether you’re running, walking, or cheering from the sidelines, it’s a great way to kick off the season with community spirit and healthy activity. Join families, friends, and staff for a festive dash filled with energy, smiles, and maybe even a turkey sighting or two. Don’t miss this chance to move, laugh, and celebrate together!
We’d also like to share the slide presentation from our recent PTSA meeting.
Thank you for your continued support and engagement in our school community
Also, we would be grateful if you could take the Climate Survey today!
MCPS invites parents/caregivers to share your experiences and thoughts on academics, communication and overall satisfaction with your school and the district. We want to improve our teaching and make our schools and district a more welcoming place for all students, staff and families.
Surveys are now available in eight languages.
The survey will ask for your child’s student ID number. You can find this by going into ParentVue and clicking on Student Information. Responses are confidential; the student ID helps us make sure responses are linked to the right school.
Warm regards,
~Ms. Anyomi

"NEW" ParentSquare Information
Dear SGMS Families:
We are excited to share that MCPS is transitioning to using ParentSquare to engage the district, school administrators and now even teachers with ongoing school-to-home communication. Using ParentSquare you'll be able to receive and send messages in any translated language preferred, set your preference to receive them as a text, email or app notification, set a preference for when you want to receive messages, instantly or as a daily digest, send RSVPs to school events and sign up to volunteer and/or donate items at events as well. During this transition we will cease our use of the Remind application for school-to-home communication.
ParentSquare accounts have been created for all teachers, school administrators and staff and caregivers. Your preferred language to receive and send communication may already be set in ParentSquare. If it’s not, you can select your preferred language while logged into your ParentSquare account using the website or app.
We encourage you to watch the ParentSquare Overview Video (English | Spanish) and review the quick guide below to learn how to begin using ParentSquare.
Translated ParentSquare Quick Guides
English, Spanish, French, Chinese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, Amharic, Korean
We're excited to begin our transition to using ParentSquare which will facilitate streamlined communication in MCPS between the district, school administrators, teachers and caregivers, maintaining school-to-home information and updates all in one place.
