IB Connected

Rumor has it, that as of this week, there are only seven Mondays left in the school year! How can that be? This school year seems to just be absolutely flying by! And as the parent of a senior this year, I just want to beg for time to slow down!

Although the end of the school year can be bittersweet, it really is such a fun time of year! There are so many wonderful events happening over the next few weeks, upcoming celebrations, and end-of-year happenings. For our IB seniors, IAs are done, the Core is almost complete, and it's time to begin preparing for exams. For our juniors, the CSP is done, the TOK Exhibition is nearly complete, and for any testing this year, they will also begin to prepare for exams. To all of our students testing this spring, good luck! We know you are going to do awesome!

IB exams will run from April 25-May 17 for our current IB juniors and seniors. Please find the IB Exam Calendar attached here. Students MUST arrive to the testing room AT LEAST 15 minutes prior to the start of the exam. If you have not paid your exam fees yet, please make sure to take care of those through Campus or the DRHS Finance Office.

There will be a mandatory meeting held on April 10 during Seminar for all students taking IB exams this year. The meeting will start at 8:05 in the DRHS library. The meeting will cover the following important information:

1. Exam information and expectations
2. Course uploads
3. Absences during exams
4. Request for IB exam results

ALL students testing are required to attend this meeting! IB exam results will be released on July 6. Students will access their results through the IB logins they have all been given.

All Pre-IB/IB students are invited to join us for the Pre-IB/IB Finals Study Night on May 20 from 6:00-8:00pm in the DRHS library. The night will include a fun art-making activity, free pizza, and the opportunity to study with your Pre-IB and IB friends!

Art Pour-Paint Info:

Please wear clothes that can get messy just in case. The instruction and pouring of the painting will take approximately half an hour then your one-of-a-kind painting will need to sit for about an hour to set enough for you to take it home. Enjoy great pizza and study while you wait. Your painting will still be wet when you take it home in the tray provided. Make sure you have a place to set it in your car. It will take at least 24 hours to dry fully. Please wait at least that long to touch it or remove it from it's carrying tray.

This fun night of art, pizza, and studying is being provided by your amazing IB Parent Group and is FREE for all Pre-IB/IB students to attend!

Every year the DRHS IB Parent Group offers the opportunity for graduating IB diploma candidates to apply for the IB Parent Group Senior Award. This year, the group will be awarding two, $500 awards to two graduating IB diploma candidates. For more information on the award and how to apply, click here. Applications are due by midnight on Monday, April 8th.

On March 13, our IB Visual Arts students, along with the IB Visual Arts students from Lakewood High School, combined forces to bring us another amazing IB Visual Arts Exhibition. The exhibition was held at the Lakewood Cultural Center, and the artwork was absolutely incredible! A huge thank you and congratulations to Ms. Snider and all of the IB Visual Arts students on all of your amazing hard work!
