Hawks Pour in 105 in Road Rout

Santiago Canyon delivered one of its most complete offensive performances of the season on February 10, rolling past Orange Coast 105–73 on the road.

The Hawks set the tone early, building a 52–35 halftime lead behind efficient shooting and crisp ball movement. They never let up after the break, adding 53 more points in the second half to push the margin past 30 and secure the conference win. SCC is now 19-6 on the season and in second place at 8-4 in conference play.

Santiago Canyon shot a blistering 64.7 percent from the field and knocked down 10 three pointers, while also recording 27 assists on 44 made baskets. The balance and pace were evident throughout the night. Matt Mendias led the way with 21 points on 9-of-11 shooting, including three makes from beyond the arc. Chico Lopez added 19 points on 9-of-13 from the floor, while Jacob De Armas and Dominic Bolton each scored 17. Jayden Oei contributed 13 points and a team high six assists, and Salim Semaan filled the stat sheet with eight points, seven rebounds, and five assists. The Hawks controlled the glass, protected the rim with five blocks, and consistently turned defensive stops into transition opportunities. It was a sharp, disciplined effort on both ends and another strong step forward in conference play.

Hawks Fall Short in Road Loss

Santiago Canyon battled conference leader Fullerton on February 12 but came up short in a 93–79 road loss. The Hawks stayed within striking distance for much of the first half, scoring 44 points and showing offensive efficiency against one of the top defenses in the league. Fullerton carried a 52–44 advantage into the break. Santiago Canyon shot an impressive 52 percent from three point range, knocking down 12 of 23 attempts, and converted 17 of 22 free throws. However, Fullerton’s depth and size wore down the Hawks over the final 20 minutes. The game was within reach throughout the second half, but SCC couldn't quite get over the hump to take a lead. Jacob De Armas led the way with 22 points and five assists in 38 minutes of action. Jayden Oei added 17 points off the bench, hitting three triples, while Dominic Bolton scored 13 points and connected on all three of his shots from beyond the arc. Chico Lopez contributed 10 points, and Ryan Weber chipped in seven while providing steady minutes in the frontcourt.

Despite the result, the Hawks showed offensive poise and shot the ball well on the road for the second straight game. The focus now turns to finishing the conference schedule strong with 2 home games with Saddleback and Riverside City on Wednesday and Friday. Both games tip-off at 6pm.
