Hardy Happenings
March 10, 2026

Dear Hardy Families,
Happy Tuesday! I hope you enjoyed the three-day weekend.
Hardy is now enrolling, and we would love your help spreading the word. We have school tours coming up, and we’re excited to welcome families who are considering Hardy for next year.
We also have our TK and Kindergarten Information Night this Thursday from 5:30–6:30 PM. If you have a future TK or Kindergartener, we hope you’ll join us.
Family Friday is this Friday. We’ll cover a range of topics, including recent WSM information, staffing and enrollment projections for 2026–27, and our end-of-year academic push with i-Ready End of Year and CAASPP.
And a fun one, Dad’s Club Movie Night is Friday evening. Please vote for the movie in the PTA section below. A quick safety note, please be sure to read the updated guidelines and agreements for Movie Night before attending. At our last Movie Night, we had several pieces of playground equipment damaged and some students unsupervised in the TK/K playground. To keep this a fun and safe event for everyone, we are tightening expectations around supervision and playground use. Thank you in advance for partnering with us so we can continue offering community events like this.
With gratitude,
Principal Aragon
Amazing Growth!
We all know GreatSchools.com doesn’t capture the full story (or maybe even half of the story) of who we are at Hardy, our heart, our relationships, our culture, and the way we show up for kids. But the reality is that families and even real estate agents use it as a quick snapshot when they’re making decisions.
A few years ago, we were a 6/10. Today, Hardy is a 10/10. Out of 155 elementary schools in SDUSD, we’re currently ranked #3, yes, ahead of La Jolla, Elevate, Benchley, and Hearst, and as a Title I school. We’re also ranked #12 in the county.
These numbers don’t define us or measure the most important parts of our work, but they do reflect the impact our staff makes every day for all students, and they help open doors for Hardy in the wider community. I’m proud to celebrate Hardy educators, the growth our students are making, and the story we’re building together.
Aragon Broken Leg!
And a quick personal update, I’m sad to share that I had a skiing accident and broke my tibia and tore my ACL, and I will need surgery.
Being a principal is a very active, on-your-feet job, but I’m determined to make this work as much as I can and stay present for our students and staff. You will likely see me rolling around on a mobility scooter that I'm naming SOAR Force One (shout out to the Hedgecock family for loaning one to me!), and I may need to take occasional breaks to elevate my leg. When I get a surgery date, I will be out for 1-2 weeks, and I will arrange for an admin designee during that time.
Thank you in advance for your patience and flexibility as I navigate campus a little differently for a while. I’ll keep you posted as plans evolve, and I’m genuinely grateful to be part of such a supportive community.
Important 26-27 Enrollment Information
Please encourage any neighborhood families to enroll now. If you do not plan on returning next year, please complete the Google Form below for our records. We currently have a large waitlist for School Choice at Hardy. If you received an offer, please respond as soon as possible so we can finalize placements and begin moving through the waitlist.

HARDY INFORMATION
BEING ON TIME MATTERS
We had over 40 tardies this morning. Getting students to school on time is a family responsibility. Being on time is part of your child’s job, just like showing up on time is part of ours, and it sets the tone for a successful day. Please help your child build that habit by arriving on time each day. Gates open at 7:20 AM, and traffic is typically light until about 7:35 AM. If you aim for that earlier window, drop off is much smoother, and your child can start the day calm, connected, and ready to learn. Thank you for helping your child begin each day set up for success.
CYBHI INSURANCE EMAIL
This is a reminder that families will begin receiving emails this week from Paradigm Healthcare Services requesting their student’s health insurance information and consent to bill as part of San Diego Unified’s participation in the Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative (CYBHI) Fee Schedule. We know families may have questions about this email. Please take a moment to review the helpful flyer below that contains more detailed information about why the district is requesting you complete this form and how it helps ensure the district receives reimbursement for services that support our students.
Show Appreciation to a Standout Staff Member at Hardy!
We invite you—our students and families—to help us spread the love. If there’s a staff member who has made a positive difference in your school experience, let them know by sending them a LOVE Note. LOVE = Living Our Values Every(day). Your words of appreciation are powerful and lasting.
