JUNE 2024
Principals Message
Quincy High School Students and Families,
On June 11th, we celebrated the graduation of 363 amazing students in the QHS class of 2024. All having their own personal journey and unique experiences showcasing how the infinite programs and pathways we offer at Quincy High School makes it such a special place!
We heard from Class of 2024 Salutatorian, Maggie Potts, who shared the duality of the message, "This too shall pass" and savor every moment we have together as part of the Quincy High School Community. Class President, Keira Golden shared advice, challenges, and memories that make the future brighter than yesterday, and Class Valedictorian, Stanley Tran, inspired us with a vision of change and what the soon-to-be future holds for us in including "new experiences and stories to tell each other. Of our victories. Of our individual journeys and newfound knowledge. And of our happiness." Principal Ford shared the core principles that guided us this school year, to be GREAT as we charge all students and staff to be Genuine and Generous, Responsible and Respectful, Encouraging, Ambitious, and a Team player.
This month, we also celebrate the diversity, resilience, and contributions of the LGBTQ+ community as we continue to foster an inclusive and supportive environment for everyone. Happy Pride Month!
As the end of June marks the close of the 2023-2024 school year comes, we are continuing to work with the staff and entire QHS community to build upon strengths year to year and look forward to the fall. Thanks for your continued support and have a wonderful summer break!

We did it!! QHS Senior Night Out was a huge success, thanks to your generous contributions of food, drinks, money and time!
There was an abundant variety of food and drink - truly something for everyone. Thank you for all the items you provided, either through monetary donations so we could shop, or by dropping them off at school for us this past week!

To the volunteers, thank you for being there and pitching in, decorating, assembling and setting up, running errands, taking, tagging, and returning hundreds of bags and clothing items, running games (whether you’d ever played them before or not!), cleaning and cleaning some more, answering questions, and countless other ways you showed up (in the early hours of the morning!) for the class of 2024 with a smile and a helping hand so they all had a fantastic time!

QHS Carpentry builds docks for Squantum Yacht Club
This year, Squantum Yacht Club partnered with the QHS carpentry students to build a new 32' x 32' c420 sailboat dock. Since December, Ms. Meltzer, Mr. Burke, members/carpentry professionals of Squantum Yacht Club, and the following carpentry students that exemplified leadership throughout: Gordon Pina, Cameron Mann, Kyle Tolini, Lucas Fernandes Rodrigues, Joshua Dunne, Colin Flynn, Christopher Goyette, Shane Brundige, and Johnny Byrne have been working tirelessly to get these docks built in time for the sailing season. On 18th, the docks were officially in the water and holding strong at Squantum Yacht Club (just off Wollaston Beach). These docks will continue to be a staple of Quincy Bay for generations of Quincy youth sailors to come.
Thanks to this extensive community collaboration, the carpentry students have been able to advance their skills tremendously and have made themselves all the more hirable post high school within our coastal area.
