"It's a GREAT day to be a Hurricane!"
Holiday Dress Up Days:
It is hard to believe that we are nearing the end of the semester! As a way to have a little bit of fun as we wind down, staff and students are invited to participate in various dress up days for the next two weeks! We look forward to finishing first semester strong!
Birthday Treats:
Per the SCS Elementary Handbook, birthday treats are not permitted in the classroom. Students may bring in small nonedible items like pencils or stickers to share with everyone, but due to allergies and other restrictions we ask that food items are not brought into class. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Smart Watches and Cell Phones:
Just a reminder that smart watches and cell phones need to either remain at home or be turned off and stored in student backpacks during the day. Thank you for your help!
Important Car Rider Information:
Just a reminder that car riders need to stay in the line for arrival and dismissal. Families and students should not park and walk students into the building or get out of their cars in the line. Only students that are leaving early for appointments are permitted to be picked up in the office, all other students will need to be picked up in the car line during afternoon dismissal. Thank you for your cooperation in keep students safe.
Attendance:
As we are getting further into the year, families will start receiving emails and/or text communication regarding attendance. The communication sent from School Status Attend is notification of the total number of days your students has not been present at school. This communication does not indicate excused or unexcused. It is just a total number of missed days. We document excused, unexcused and doctor's notes in our system and use that to determine when or if an attendance meeting needs to be held. If you have any questions regarding your student's attendance, please contact Hendricks.
Reminders for the 2025-2026 School Year:
- If you have any changes to your student's transportation information, please contact the front office.
- Remember that students may only bring water in water bottles to be used in the classroom. Other drinks can be brought for lunch. No soda please!
- If your child will not be at school, please remember to call in to let us know so the absence can be excused. Each student gets up to 10 excused absences each year with no doctor's note. Please contact the office if you have any questions about attendance.
- If questions or concerns arise throughout the year, please do not hesitate to contact Mrs. Tilley, Mrs. Fosnight or your student's teacher. The home/school partnership is essential for the success of everyone! We thank you for your support and willingness to be our partner in your student's education!

Parents or guardians can submit this application online at https://nutrilinktechnologies.com/products/free-and-reduced/ during Registration or in person at your child’s school office. It’s an easy and confidential way to ensure your child stays well-nourished at school.
