Grandview Elementary
Parent/ Family Update - August 1, 2025

August 15, 2025
From the Principal:
Dear Grandview Families,
As we get ready to open our doors for the new school year on August 18th, I’d like to pause and acknowledge the tremendous work that's been taking place. Although our start date was delayed, our construction crews, maintenance team, and school staff have been working around the clock—moving furniture, deep cleaning classrooms, organizing learning spaces, and putting the finishing touches on our building so it’s ready for students.
This year brings exciting new opportunities for our Tigers! Our teachers collaborated with our Literacy Coach to create a shared GES Literacy Vision that will guide reading and writing instruction while inspiring students to become lifelong learners, informed citizens, and effective communicators in a changing world. We are also introducing Tiger Tracks to Success, a new K–5 Special Area class that helps students explore their futures through lessons on social-emotional wellness, college and career awareness, and personal goal-setting—from learning about community helpers in kindergarten to mapping out future aspirations in fifth grade. In addition, we’re thrilled to welcome back Girls on the Run, an after-school program for 3rd–5th grade girls that builds confidence, promotes teamwork, and teaches goal setting and resilience, all while preparing for a celebratory 5K.
We are so excited to welcome our students and families back to GES—let’s make this year one filled with growth, connection, and unforgettable moments together!
With Tiger Pride,
Dr. Susan Short
Principal, Grandview Elementary

Counselor's Corner:
Welcome Back from Your School Counselor!
Dear Grandview Families,
Social-emotional learning (SEL) plays an important role in creating a positive and supportive classroom environment. It helps students build empathy, boost their confidence, and strengthen relationships with both peers and teachers.
At Grandview, we use a program focused on three key goals: Be Kind, Be Strong, and Be Well. These principles guide students in developing the skills they need to thrive both in and out of the classroom.

Special Area Classes at GES:
We’re thrilled to share an exciting addition to our Specials rotation this year—Tiger Tracks to Success!
At Bellevue Independent Schools, we believe in preparing students not just for school, but for life. This new special area class is designed to help our K–5 students explore their futures through engaging lessons focused on college, careers, and personal goals. From learning about community helpers in kindergarten to mapping out future goals in fifth grade, students will build valuable skills in goal setting, teamwork, and decision-making. Tiger Tracks to Success is all about helping our young Tigers discover their strengths and start thinking about the path that’s right for them.
We’re proud to support each student as they begin their journey toward a bright and successful future!
