Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! After a summer filled with planning, preparation, and professional learning, we are excited to officially welcome our Green Knight students and families back to Mount Pleasant High School. Our faculty and staff have been hard at work preparing our classrooms, strengthening our systems, and getting ready for an incredible year of learning, growth, and opportunity.

The excitement begins with our Back to School Event on Tuesday, August 25, from 4:00–6:30 p.m. Join us for an evening featuring food trucks, music, our clubs and organizations, and Green Knight athletic teams as we bring our school community together to kick off the year. Students will also be able to pick up their 2026–2027 class schedules, giving them a sneak peek at their classes before the first day of school.

We then welcome our 9th and 12th grade students on Wednesday, August 26, followed by our full-school return on Thursday, August 27. Our first two student days will follow an 8-period schedule, giving students the opportunity to experience their entire schedule, meet each of their teachers, and become familiar with their classes and expectations. On Friday, August 28, we will transition to our regular rotation schedule, beginning with a 1-Day. Please access the Infinite Campus (IC) Parent Portal to locate information regarding Transportation/Buses and Student Schedules. Our main office can also support any parents in need of their student's transportation or schedule information.

There is nothing quite like the energy of our students returning to the building, and we are ready to get started. Here's to a year of high expectations, meaningful opportunities, and a strong sense of community for every Green Knight.

One School. One Community. We ARE!

We're Almost There! Back to School Event

The countdown is on! Our Mount Pleasant High School Back to School Event is right around the corner on Tuesday, August 25, from 4:00–6:30 p.m. We invite all Green Knight students, families, and community members to join us as we celebrate the start of the 2026–2027 school year.

Come reconnect with the Mount community, meet our athletic teams, clubs, and student organizations, enjoy food from local food trucks and an ice cream truck, listen to music, and discover the many ways students can get involved this year.

We are also excited to share that our student scheduling process will be complete by August 25. Students attending the Back to School Event will have the opportunity to pick up their 2026–2027 class schedules while they are here - another great reason to join us!

We can't wait to see our Green Knight community back together on August 25!

Clarification: Expectations for Outside Food & Beverages

We want to provide some clarification regarding our expectations for outside food and beverages at Mount Pleasant.

This is not a ban on outside food or drinks. Students may bring water bottles, coffee, breakfast items, and other permitted food and beverages to school. Rather, our expectation is focused on punctuality, responsibility, and good decision-making.

We want to treat our high school students like the young adults they are becoming and provide them with reasonable privileges and independence. In return, we ask students to manage their time so they arrive at school on time and ready to learn.

When a student chooses to stop at Dunkin’, Wawa, Starbucks, or another establishment and that decision causes them to arrive late, we have an opportunity to reinforce the importance of time management and punctuality. The concern is not the coffee or breakfast—it is prioritizing an optional stop over arriving to school on time.

We also recognize that circumstances vary. Medical appointments, transportation issues, family circumstances, and other situations occur. Our administrators will work thoughtfully with students and families, and all documented medical, IEP, and 504 accommodations will continue to be honored.

Ultimately, our goal is to provide students with independence while helping them develop the responsibility and habits they will need beyond high school.

Additionally, this policy will put us in alignment with our sister high schools in the district.

Every Day Matters: Attendance & Tardiness

Consistent attendance is essential to student success. Under Delaware Code, students must be present for at least 85% of instructional time to remain eligible to earn course credit. At the high school level, attendance is calculated separately for each course, with students permitted a maximum of 13 absences per course—including both excused and unexcused absences.

At Mount Pleasant, we want every Green Knight in school, on time, and engaged every day so that students have full access to the learning and opportunities available to them. As part of this commitment, we will conduct hall sweeps consistently throughout the school day to address patterns of tardiness.

New this year, hall sweeps will also occur at 7:30 a.m. We want to remind students and families that being late to school also means being late to class. Students should plan to arrive with enough time to enter the building and be in their first-period classroom by 7:30 a.m. Continued issues with tardiness will be addressed through the progressive discipline outlined in the Brandywine School District Code of Conduct.

Thank you for partnering with us to make being present, punctual, and engaged a priority from the very first day of school.

Study Halls & Senior Schedules

As we begin the 2026–2027 school year, study halls will be available to juniors and seniors only and will be provided on an as-needed basis. Juniors are expected to maintain a rigorous schedule of at least six to seven courses. Seniors are also expected to maintain a full course load unless they have been approved for an abbreviated schedule after meeting with their school counselor and Mr. Wells, Building Principal, and completing all required documentation.

Our goal is to ensure that every Green Knight maintains a rigorous and meaningful academic schedule while taking full advantage of the wide variety of courses and learning opportunities available at Mount Pleasant.

Student Schedules: What You Need to Know!

Our Counseling Team has created a Student Schedule Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) resource to help answer many common questions, including when schedules will be available, the criteria for requesting a change, processing timelines, and the September 30 deadline for schedule change requests.

We encourage students and families to review the FAQ before contacting their school counselor with scheduling questions.

AVID in Action: Growth That Makes Us Proud

AVID has great news to share with our Mount community! Recent MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) data shows our 9th and 10th grade AVID students made significant gains in both math and reading this year - growth strong enough to bring them right in line with the national achievement average.

And it's not just our AVID students: school-wide, Mount students are growing faster than the district average, showing that our whole school is moving in the right direction.

This kind of progress is a big reason Mount has been recognized as an AVID National Demonstration School — a distinction that reflects the hard work of our students, teachers, and families. AVID continues to be one of the key drivers behind student success at Mount, helping students build the skills and confidence they need to thrive.

We're proud of how far our students have come - and we're not stopping here. This school year, we're building on this momentum to reach even higher. We ARE AVID!!

Green Knights Giving Back

A huge THANK YOU to Mount Pleasant alumna Diana (Casula) Mace and her family for generously donating 8 bookbags filled with back-to-school supplies for our students!

Your generosity will go a long way in helping our Green Knights begin the school year prepared, confident, and ready to learn. We are grateful to have alumni who continue to give back and support the next generation of Green Knights.

Once a Green Knight, always a Green Knight!

Congratulations, Class of 2026 Summer Graduates!

Congratulations to our five Class of 2026 Summer Graduates, who officially crossed the stage at Brandywine High School alongside fellow graduates from our district sister schools!
