Inside Scoop
Hockinson High School - 2024-2025
September 19, 2025
Hello, Hawks:
When I brag about our Hawks, I better bring the receipts. Here they are! For 2025 - and this is based on data from SchoolDigger for the 2024-2025 school year - Hockinson High School is ranked as the 62nd best high school out of 438 schools in the state. When you take out all of the magnet schools and mini schools, we're significantly higher. For comparison's sake, in 2019, HHS was ranked 178th in the state. That is quite the jump! When compared to high schools in the county, we are ranked 2nd.
SchoolDigger provides the best data - graduation rate, test scores, and whether we are closing the gap for all students - and takes out all the fluff that US News Rankings uses, like AP participation (30% of the ranking!). Even in the US News Ranking, we showed huge improvement. We jumped over 40 spots to 85 from 127 the year before. When I first got to HHS in 2021, that ranking was in the 200s.
Why does this matter?
1. At the the very least, it's about pride in our school, staff, kids, and community.
2. It shows that what we're doing - at home and at school - is working.
3. It shows prospective colleges and employers that Hockinson students, as the kids say, are "built different." They're capable, hardworking, and motivated.
Keep up the great effort! We've still got gaps to close and opportunities ahead of us. I truly believe that we are only scratching the surface.

Homecoming Parade Float Help Needed
Sophomore and Freshmen Parents:
We need your help! HHS is starting a new tradition this year during Homecoming! We will be holding a parade after school on September 26 that will begin at the Middle School and Finish in the Parking lot by the football stadium.
Each class (Seniors, Juniors, Sophomores, Freshmen) will have a float in the parade. The theme is "Once a Hawk Always a Hawk". Here is where we would like your help. We need two trucks and trailers (1 for the Freshmen class float and 1 for the Sophomore class float). We would need the trailers for the week of September 21-27. The students will need several days to decorate.
Please contact Kasey Powers kasey.powers@hocksd.org (ASB Coordinator). Any help will be greatly appreciated. Students are looking forward to kicking off a new tradition!
