AUTUMN TERM - 6TH NOVEMBER 2025
Message from the Executive Headteacher
Welcome back to the most exciting part of the Autumn term; the run up to Christmas! You will be receiving communication with all of the details for our wonderful Christmas shows and the details of the Christmas activities which the children will be enjoying. Don't forget to sign your child up for their Christmas school dinner via the email which will come out this evening. This form needs to be completed by Monday of next week to ensure the caterers have enough time to order the food so please do not delay in completing this.
Tomorrow we are pleased to host the HPPA fireworks events at the school field, this is always a busy event with great fireworks. Thanks to many of the staff and parents who have volunteered to come along and support us and we look forward to seeing you there.
Please see the Christmas Fair sign up sheet, HPPA volunteers are planning a great fair but we need some more volunteers for a couple of hours on Saturday 29th. They have raised lots of money which directly benefits the children so please do help if you can.
Next week, I look forward to seeing you at the parent consultations, members of the HPP governors will be in attendance, gathering feedback so please do say hello.
I have also been enjoying the school tours we have been doing at both schools. Many year 2 parents have toured HJS and it's wonderful to hear the positive feedback they provide. Please sign up if you have yet to do so.
Finally, reminder voting for Parent Governor closes tomorrow, Friday 7th November, at 5pm. Voting is via an email link from Choice voting, which was sent together with instructions on how to place your vote, at 12pm on Wednesday 22 October.
Enjoy your weekend when it arrives.

Year 1
The children have returned from the October break full of enthusiasm for all the new learning that is to come in this exciting half term leading up to Christmas.
We ended our first half term in year 1 with the culmination of all our learning about healthy foods, harvest, our senses, and even our imperative verbs, by creating our very own HIS smoothies. After much tasting, designing, cutting and chopping during our final DT day, we were ready to turn our smoothie choices into reality and see what they actually tasted like. We have to say some were definitely more successful than others, but a fun learning experience was had by all nonetheless!
Our new topic this half term is ‘The World Outside Your Window’. We have begun the topic by looking at the different seasons and how the weather, the clothes we wear, and our local environment changes along with each season. In the coming weeks, we will be looking at looking at urban and rural settlements, identifying their features and the similarities and differences between the two, and linking these to our local environment through our year group walk around Hampton. Thank you to all of you who have kindly given up your time to support us with this and accompany us on our walk. Fingers crossed for dry weather!
We link our topics this half term by studying materials and their properties in science. We begin by looking at and feeling different objects and discussing what materials they might be made of and why, before predicting, investigating and observing how a material’s properties may affect our choices in how we might use them in everyday life, e.g. an umbrella or a raincoat.
We have a busy but fun-packed half term ahead of us, full of art, craft and Christmas activities alongside our everyday learning. We hope that you can continue to support us at home by practising songs and lines in preparation for our Christmas production when these come home. Please look to the year 1 ‘Home Support’ page for various other ways in which you can support your child at home with their learning, as well as a Christmas song or two for you to practise at home each week in the lead up to the festive period.
We hope the year 1 children enjoy all the exciting learning that is still to come this half term!
Year 1 Brooklands Museum Visit
As part of our History topic of ‘Travel and Transport’, Year 1 will be visiting Brooklands Museum on Friday 8th May 2026.
We rely on parental contributions in order to be able to run the wide variety of visits and workshops that the pupils at HPP enjoy and the contribution we are requesting on this occasion, for each pupil, is £26.50. This includes coach hire, entrance fee, and the ‘Concorde Experience’. Whilst payment of this trip is voluntary, if we do not receive sufficient contributions, we will cancel the visit and a full refund will be made.
In order to support families with making this payment we are offering payment instalments. You can make payments, via Arbor, as frequently as you wish between now and Friday 27th February 2026. If you feel that you are unable to make this contribution and require support with this visit, please contact the school office to arrange a meeting to speak to Mrs Gale, Head of School.

Aware Schools Award
You may have noticed an Attachment Aware Schools Award banner on the school gates, this is because this year Hampton Primary Partnership are participating in the Attachment Aware Schools Award - Silver Level. The project focuses on developing attachment aware and trauma informed practice across the partnership. As part of the project, we are looking at developing spaces within the school to further foster safe, supportive environments and support children's wellbeing.
On 3rd November it was Banners for Belonging Day, when schools across our community came together to proudly show their commitment to being Attachment Aware and Trauma Informed.

Year 2 Kew Gardens Visit
Please read the email sent to all Year 2 parents on 16th October regarding Y2's visit to Kew Gardens in March next year. Payment for this visit is due by Friday 30th January. There is an option to pay in instalments if you wish. If you have any questions regarding this, please contact the school office.
Toilet use after school
If your child needs to use the toilet after school, they can use the toilets in RK, these are well known to the children. All children are given the opportunity to visit the toilet before leaving for the day so please speak to your child about this if this is happening frequently. Children and parents must not enter the school building to find toilets. There is a toilet at HJS in the Music room which children are able to use.
