Butler Dismissal / Parking in the Highland Community Association Spaces
Butler Elementary has a complicated but systematic arrival and dismissal process for our busses, car riders, and walkers. Where Butler is set, the Highland Home Association and our immediate neighbors have asked us to pass along the message that parking in some of the roadways is for Highland Association residents ONLY. Do not park in these spots to wait for your student walkers to arrive. Please be mindful of this and instead follow our established carline process if walking door-to-door is not able to occur. We appreciate your attention and cooperation as a school/neighborhood community.
School Parent Volunteers - New Information - Action Item
Valid volunteer cards may be used through the end of this school year.
- Please turn in your card to the school after your last volunteer event. (Or Bring to Volunteer Tea!)
- Cards will not be accepted after 6/30/2025, regardless of the expiration date on the card.
Volunteers must create a Raptor account to volunteer after this school year. Volunteers can retrieve their clearances from their App Garden account – this must be done by May 16, 2025. All required documents must be uploaded with the Raptor application – revisions cannot be made once the application is submitted. Detailed information is available on our site at: Human Resources / VOLUNTEER Clearances/Paperwork
Thank you for your understanding and for volunteering your time for our students!
Butler Cell Phone/SMART Watch/Personal Device Policy
At Butler, the use of student cell phone/SMART Watch/personal device usage in school is prohibited (medical exemptions apply). As a reminder, these devices are to be silenced and remain in backpacks during the school day. Should there be a need for communication, that would take place with the support of the school office during the school day. Please be sure to share these expectations with your child as this policy will be enforced by teachers/staff in coordination with District policy.
CB and Butler Handbooks
Additionally, Butler has a Parent/Student Handbook that applies these district policies specific to our school.
Please familiarize to both important documents as we continue throughout the school year.

Reminder: Early Dismissals on June 11, 12 and 13
As we approach the last month of the school year, we want to remind families about three early dismissals in June: Wednesday, June 11 (graduation); Thursday, June 12 (teacher in-service); and Friday, June 13 (last day of school). On these days, Butler will dismiss at 12:25 p.m. (“C” schools). Kindergarteners in our AM program will attend on June 11, which will also be their last day. Kindergartners in our PM program will attend on June 12 and 13, ensuring both AM and PM groups have equally attended school for six half-days over the course of the district's 12 early dismissals this year. Let's finish the year strong!

School Happenings
Butler Spring Concert Series - Grades 2 & 4
The final weeks of the year are always exciting times for our music and performing arts departments. The next event of our concert series featured our 2nd and 4th grades performing on Monday, May 19th! Second graders shared what they want to be When I Grow Up - wearing every kind of "professional" costume while looking like the future!
Fourth grade highlighted strings, recorders, the chorus, and members of our CB South High School Rock Band with the Rock & Roll, Baby! show. It was a big night for our students starting with the very first performance of our full Strings ensemble. Each musical instrument section was featured with a finale of Queen's We Will Rock You! Next a combined 4th grade Chorus/Recorder performed many rock hits like Rockin' Robin and Crazy Train! With the support of High School Students (and some former Butler Bears), they accompanied our songs with solos, vocals, and a "rock band" attitude. There were even pyrotechnics, thanks to Mr. Meyers, director of CB South Bands (and Butler Parent).
A special thanks to each of our classroom teachers for their support of the students and to Ms. Griffin with the amazing show she created!

Field Day 2025!
Butler Bears held true in hopes the weather would break - and we did it! Thankfully, the sun was out but the temps stayed "comfortable" in order for the students, staff, and families to have a blast! New activities and events were in place - including relays races, tug-o-war, water events, team activities, and other challenges. With the support of our staff and help from CB South National Honor Society, Butler was able to hold events all across the property. Thanks to Mrs. Engart (and family), Ms. Bardell, and PE Coordinator, Angela Hendershot for their efforts in coordinating, planning, and setting up for the day! We celebrated with a slide show before the big reveal on which side won, the (Grecos (green) or Romans (white)!
Butler Town Hall - Focus on Responsibility! 5/29
Butler held their last Town Hall Assembly of the school year where we focus on our Butler Pledge: Respect, Responsibility, and Kindness. This session, Responsibility was highlighted as we invited Butler Parent, and member of the Bucks County Emergency Management Agency & Homeland Security Program Specialist, Mr. Corey Matthews (Carter, Gr.3)! Mr. Matthews shared how his job requires a lot of responsibility in the emergency response field and related to how responsibility is also required in every student - as it matters in their everyday lives. It was a great reminder about how everyone, adults and children, can work together to keep one another safe. In addition, students showing great responsibility in school were announced for each grade - congratulations on this recognition!
PEN 6th Grade Mock Trial
6th Grade Middle School Orientation - 5/27
The Butler 6th Graders visited Unami (along with Mill Creek), to explore, learn, and participate in their Middle School Orientation! Next year, this class will be walking the halls of 7th grade and this opportunity allowed them to see all the awaits their future!
Field Trips
At this time of year, Butler classrooms attend varied field trips across the area - connecting to the curriculum and celebrating our time together as a grade level team.
Student Showcase
Butler Bear Students - Honors and Recognitions
Two Butler students have earned top honors in contests open to elementary students.
Tolu Folaranmi, in 4th grade, entered the America’s Field Trip contest sponsored by America 250. He was tasked with writing a response to the question, “What does America mean to you?”. Tolu’s entry was selected as one of the first-place awardees, and he will receive airfare and lodging for a 3-day, 2-night trip to a selected historical or cultural site.
Our second winner, Hara Jang, from 6th grade, was prompted to write an essay addressing “The Role of Law in America.” This topic fit in perfectly with her recent PEN law unit! As a winner, Hara was recognized at an awards ceremony and received a gift card to the Doylestown Bookshop!
Congratulations to both of these talented Butler Bears!
