Weekly round up
16.1.26
It has been another busy week at school. The children are now fully-settled into the routines after the Christmas break. There has been a Reception trip to Shipley library and Year 6 had a visit from the Police. There were a couple of sporting events as well as the usual exciting things taking place in the classrooms. The children are also really looking forward to finding out who has won a £5 Amazon voucher - awarded to a couple of lucky pupils with 100% attendance.

Attendance update
Attendance rewards:
Well done to the 428 children who were in school every day last week. Two lucky winners had their names drawn out of a hat and took home a £5 Amazon voucher.
At the end of the half term, there will be a further prize draw. Pupils who have achieved 100% attendance for the half term will have their name entered into the draw 3 times, those who have above 96% attendance will have their name entered 2 times and those whose attendance has improved on the previous half term will have their name entered into the draw once. The prize at the end of each half term will be a £10 Amazon voucher. There will be one prize for EYFS, one prize for KS1, one prize for Lower KS2 and one prize for Upper KS2.
In addition to this, every week, the class with the highest attendance will earn a reward of an extra playtime (or indoor free time if that is their preference!)
Home visits started this week
If your child is absent from school for three consecutive days, even if due to illness, a member of our safeguarding team will visit your home. This visit is a supportive measure designed to keep the lines of communication open between school and family, and to offer any help or guidance needed to make your child’s return to school as smooth as possible. Our priority is to ensure every pupil feels supported and confident to re-engage with their learning. We have spoken to other schools who have introduced this measure and it has been very successful.
This week's school attendance is: 96.8% - a much stronger figure than before the holidays.
This year's attendance to date is 94.9%.
Early Years & KS1 class of the week is 1W with 99.7%.
KS2 class of the week is 4BY with 99.3%.
A reminder that, as a school, we are aiming for no less than 96% attendance.
Maths and technology
Year 3 have been exploring turns and right angles in mathematics. They have enjoyed programming the BeeBot robots to practise turning in units of ¼ turns.
Supporting our community
Each Thursday morning this term, some Year 5 children will spend time with members of the elderly community at the local Wrose Chapel.
The children will help set up a coffee morning for these members of the community, spend time talking with them, sharing a book and playing games. This will give the opportunity for the children to build healthy relationships, help develop their speaking and listening skills, their confidence when speaking with adults and take pride in their local community.
Y6 Police visit
The Police visited Year 6 today to discuss peer pressure and making the right decisions when they are out and about in the local area.
Sporting update
On Thursday we had some children attend Blakehill Primary’s Inclusion Games. They took part in lots of different activities: bowling, curling, basketball and more. They all did amazing and should be proud of themselves.
On Thursday afternoon our Under 11 Boys' football team played against a very strong Blakehill team at Goals. Our boys worked extremely hard, putting in a real shift. A special mention goes to Alex in goal, who was phenomenal.
