PHS College & Career Corner

It's been a month! Between snow days, holidays, and midterm exams, January has flown by. This week's edition features quick bytes for you to review and come back to for reference as needed.

*Here's to starting the second semester strong (and healthy!)*

Seniors: Check to see if your colleges are requesting mid-year grades. If so, complete this form: PHS Mid-Year Grades Request Form. Log in with your rtmsd account to complete the form! See Ms. Allen with questions!

1. Talk as a family about interests and career goals. Watch the videos shared in our schoology folders and read descriptions of the programs:DCTS Course Guide
2. Start your application using your personal email address: DCTS Application. Priority deadline: 2/28/25. Interested in Medical Careers (Seniors only)? Use the same application and make sure to complete the supplemental form:

3. Schedule a visit ASAP: DCTS Visitation Request Form (Offered Tuesdays - 1/28, 2/11, 2/25, 3/11, 3/25). Tour the program and see if it matches your interests!
4. Write thoughtful essays about why you want to attend that program and where you will grow from the skills you learn at DCTS. Attend an I/E Application Help Session with Ms. Allen starting in February!

• Details and registration links can be found under the College Visits tab in Naviance (you must be logged in): https://student.naviance.com/colleges/visits. You must register at least an hour prior to the scheduled visit.
  
• Visits will be held in the College and Career Center in the counseling office or Lecture Room A. Please view the location when registering.
  
• You will receive an email prior to the scheduled visit that will confirm your registration. Please show that to your teacher to use as your pass prior to coming to the meeting.
  
• Attendance is documented at all visits!
• Seniors - if you plan to apply to a school or have already applied, ATTEND THE VISIT. The representatives will be looking for you!!!

As Penncrest works to grow its career exposure and awareness for all students, we are seeking individuals who may be interested in serving as a guest speaker on a career panel for our future events. We welcome professionals from all backgrounds in all fields. Our friends at Revolution Prep have partnered with us to create a webinar exclusively available to Penncrest students and families about how how standardized tests have evolved and are used the in the admissions process at colleges. We encourage you to register for this free event to learn more:

The will also be holding a practice ACT on February 1st and a practice SAT on February 22nd. See below for details about both.

SAT DATE Now 2/22 - $10 fee goes to the PHS Class of 2026!

This organization is near and dear to college counselors everywhere (including me!). Three students will be selected for the $1,000 PACAC Scholarship, and one student will be selected for the $1,500 Benjamin James Memorial Scholarship.
