Broadmoor's Weekly Wildcat News!
November 2, 2025
Dear BES Families,
November and December are always busy! Please check out the upcoming events and dates at the bottom of this newsletter so you do not miss anything! We look forward to seeing everyone at the Book Fair events this week! If you missed the cut-off for the Grand Breakfast, we cannot accept late orders. However, you are more than welcome to still come sit with your student at the breakfast tables and visit the Book Fair!
On Wednesday, Nov. 5th we will be walking over to the high school to practice for the Veterans Day Concert. If you have an appointment, please check with your child's teacher or our office.
Recently, US News and World Report ranked elementary schools in Kansas and BES was named #19 out of 852 elementary schools! Our middle and high school also did well. You can read about it here:
Have a great week,

Book Fair 2025!
Please Vote Tuesday, November 4th!
On November 4, 2025, Patrons of the Louisburg School District will have the opportunity to vote on a new baseball and softball complex. This new complex will be a ZERO mill increase project. If the vote passes, construction will begin right away and the goal will be to play baseball and softball games on the fields late April/May 2026. Besides baseball and softball, other sports teams will be able to play on the fields, as well as band, dance and physical education classes. As with all of our fields, The LRC and community will have access to them throughout the year. We appreciate your support of this zero mill increase capital improvement for our school district and community. For more information about the ball fields, please visit our school district's website at: https://www.usd416.org/article/2361293

Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day
November 14th is recognized in Kansas as Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day. The day honors Ruby Bridges, the first African American child to attend an all-white elementary school in Louisiana.
We are looking for volunteers to meet students at various points to walk to school together. Our three meeting places include:
1. City Park: 807 S. 5th Street
2. Louisburg Aquatic Center: 402 Aquatic Drive
3. Ron Weers Shelter House @ the Louisburg Lake
Kids and families are welcome to walk and bike to school in honor of this day. We will also be watching the Ruby Bridges movie and each student may receive a book about her life. This movie is rated PG and will be watched in classrooms with teachers to discuss the content as they are watching it. There is some language and scenes that are uncomfortable and could be upsetting. As a school, we feel our students need to understand the heaviness behind the words and actions in those scenes. We do hear this upsetting language from our students. While we do not tolerate it, this movie gives a more relatable opportunity for our kids to understand why it is not acceptable and how hurtful it truly is. This is a great time to watch the movie with your family, and discuss the historical events of that time. The movie is available on Disney+. We do want to give families the option of opting their child out of watching and discussing this movie. Please see the form below to do so. Any students that will not be watching will be in the library during the movie.
Please let me know if you have any questions and if you are able to be a volunteer that day to walk to school with students.
Helping Our Community
Support For Our Families
Hello USD 416 Families and Friends,
Believe it or not, cold weather and the holiday season are fast approaching. The added expense of this season can be a heavy burden. The USD 416 social worker/counselor team wanted to share with you some free resources for winter coats, Thanksgiving meal baskets and Christmas gifts (Christmas gift program is for Louisburg children birth to 18). Please be mindful of each deadline for requesting assistance. As far away as they seem, the deadlines will be here before you know it.
If your family could benefit from a little extra support to ease the seasonal burden, then please see our newsletter to learn about some wonderful resources!

Attendance and School Calendar
Please take note of our school calendars when planning your family's vacations.
Attendance is a focus at BES and we want your children at school! It can be very difficult for students to get caught up sometimes when they miss for extended periods of time. For example, when a student misses a week of school, that is up to 450 minutes of math instruction they are missing!
If your family does have a trip planned, we do not provide lessons or materials ahead of those trips. Teachers will work with you to schedule times when your student can be given that instruction and guided work time to ensure mastery of skills. This may have to happen before or after school, but we will also try to work during the school day as well.
GREAT school habits now help prepare students for future success!
