Principal's Message Principal's Message

Good afternoon,

Hard to believe, but we are officially in the home stretch of the second trimester! With just under three weeks remaining until the trimester ends, now is the perfect time for students to check their progress, clear up any missing assignments, and reassess on any assessments. Middle school can feel like a whirlwind, especially as we shake off the winter blues, so we encourage everyone to stay focused and finish strong. Let’s keep that momentum going all the way to the finish lineβ€”spring is just around the corner!

Graduation Speeches

On Wednesday, February 4, we had an informational meeting regarding 8th-grade student speakers for the graduation ceremony on Wednesday, June 3rd. The role of each student speaker is to deliver a speech or spoken word that reflects their collective experiences, expresses gratitude, and offers encouragement for the future. It is an honor to be chosen for this role.

To be eligible for consideration as one of the 8th Grade Graduation Speakers, you must do the following:

  1. Join the β€œ2026 8th Grade Graduation Speaker Google Classroom”.

Google Classroom Code: uotxhyld

  1. Submit your speech/spoken word via this Google Classroom by Tuesday, February 17th at 8:00 a.m. (Look at the criteria listed below.)

After submission, all submissions will be judged by a panel of staff members. Three finalists will be announced by Friday, February 27th at 3 p.m. by email.

The finalists will be chosen based on the following criteria:

Content:

  1. Reflect on your experiences at Fremont
  2. Express gratitude to teachers, staff, parents/guardians, and classmates
  3. Provide words of encouragement
  4. Share personal anecdotes or stories that resonate with the audience
  5. Highlight achievements and diversity of the class as a whole
  6. Offer advice for the transition to high school and beyond
  7. Conclude with a powerful and memorable statement, leaving a lasting impression

If you are selected as a finalist, you will be required to submit a video of yourself giving the speech/spoken word to accompany your typed speech/spoken word. The video, along with your typed speech/spoken word, must be submitted in the β€œ2026 8th Grade Graduation Speaker Google Classroom” by Monday, March 9th at 8 am. The winner will be announced by Monday, March 16th, at 3 pm by email.

If you are selected for this honor, you will be required to work with a staff member for additional practice and preparation.

If you have any questions, please contact me.

Best,

Mrs. Larson

MHS Summer School Information

Incoming freshmen have several summer school options at MHS. Students may take Personal Finance during the summer to fulfill the consumer education graduation requirement. This option can free up a class period during the school year for a study hall or an additional elective.

All freshmen are required to complete one full year of P.E., which includes one semester of Health and one semester of P.E. Incoming freshmen may enroll in the online summer Health course. Students who complete Health during summer school must still complete a full year of P.E. during the school year. Some students, particularly athletes, prefer this option so they can enroll in Freshman Strength or another P.E. course for the full year. Students in band or choir who are eligible for a P.E. waiver may take Health in the summer to open an additional class period for an elective or study hall during the school year.

All summer school information can be found on our website: MHS Summer School

Summer School Schedule:

  • Session 1: June 8 – July 2, 2026

  • Session 2: July 6 – July 30, 2026

  • Days/Times: Monday–Thursday, 8:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
