Principal's Message
Good afternoon,
Hard to believe, but we are officially in the home stretch of the second trimester! With just under three weeks remaining until the trimester ends, now is the perfect time for students to check their progress, clear up any missing assignments, and reassess on any assessments. Middle school can feel like a whirlwind, especially as we shake off the winter blues, so we encourage everyone to stay focused and finish strong. Letβs keep that momentum going all the way to the finish lineβspring is just around the corner!
Warm Regards,
Emily Loerakker

Google Classroom Code: uotxhyld
- Submit your speech/spoken word via this Google Classroom by Tuesday, February 17th at 8:00 a.m. (Look at the criteria listed below.)
After submission, all submissions will be judged by a panel of staff members. Three finalists will be announced by Friday, February 27th at 3 p.m. by email.
The finalists will be chosen based on the following criteria:
Content:

The video, along with your typed speech/spoken word, must be submitted in the β2026 8th Grade Graduation Speaker Google Classroomβ by Monday, March 9th at 8 am. The winner will be announced by Monday, March 16th, at 3 pm by email.

8th-grade Graduation Gown Ordering - March 2nd Deadline!
It is time to prepare for the upcoming 8th-grade graduation. One important component of graduation is gowns. The gowns will be sent home prior to the ceremony with care instructions and will be yours to keep after they are worn.
Please fill out the following form with your graduateβs information. This is required by Jostens and will ensure the appropriate size is ordered for each student. We ask that this be completed by Monday, March 2.
The 8th-grade graduation ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, June 3, at 6:30 p.m. and will be held at the College of Lake County Physical Education Center. Wednesday, June 3 will also be the last day of school for all 8th-graders and will be a full day of school.
More information regarding graduation, including student speaker opportunities, admission tickets, and the 8th-grade dance will be shared in the coming weeks/months. Look at the Fremont Family Newsletter for updates. Students can also access information from the Class of 2026 Google Classroom. Heather Larson am the graduation advisor for the 2025-2026 school year so please feel welcome to reach out to hlarson@fsd79.org with any questions in the meantime. Thank you!
MHS Summer School Information
Incoming freshmen have several summer school options at MHS. Students may take Personal Finance during the summer to fulfill the consumer education graduation requirement. This option can free up a class period during the school year for a study hall or an additional elective.
All freshmen are required to complete one full year of P.E., which includes one semester of Health and one semester of P.E. Incoming freshmen may enroll in the online summer Health course. Students who complete Health during summer school must still complete a full year of P.E. during the school year. Some students, particularly athletes, prefer this option so they can enroll in Freshman Strength or another P.E. course for the full year. Students in band or choir who are eligible for a P.E. waiver may take Health in the summer to open an additional class period for an elective or study hall during the school year.
All summer school information can be found on our website: MHS Summer School
