A NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Lobster Studies Field Trip at Fort Popham 🦞
On Wednesday, grades one and three traveled to the wharf at Popham to learn more about the lobstering industry. Thank you to Captain Ethan Debery and Captain Robert Willette for bringing their lobster boats to the wharf for students to view and board. Groups of five or six students at a time boarded a lobster boat to identify a male and female lobster, practice banding a lobster, viewing the inner workings of a trap, and tried out experiencing just how strong a lobster boat’s hauling mechanism is. When students were not learning aboard the boat, they were able to visit the fort at Popham.
Exciting Celebrations next week at PES! 🌟
On June 4th, high school seniors will be traveling back to Phippsburg as we celebrate by applauding them through the hallways. Graduating seniors will have lunch in the cafeteria and join them for recess. On June 5th, fifth grade parents will play their children in a competitive game of kickball. We are down to the last couple of days in our teamwork ice cream sundae challenge. It has been a competitive race, as students have worked hard to cheer one another on and hold each other accountable. On Monday, our winning team will have an ice cream sundae party - we may even encounter a tie.
Summer Learning - If you are looking for some summer time independence challenge, follow the link below. The Let Grow program encourages students to set goals and work towards achieving independent tasks. The Let Grow Summer Experience

Field Day at Hermit Island 🏖️
We are so excited to bring field day back to Hermit Island on Tuesday, June 17th. This will be on the last day of school for all K-5 students. Please read carefully.
All students will be dismissed from Hermit Island at 12:00, which means that home drop off times may be different. Please use the Busright system to track when your students will be home.
Parent pickups will be AT THE HERMIT ISLAND parking lot.
Please notify Tammy by 9:00 on Tuesday morning with any changes in dismissal plans. We will not be able to accommodate last minute changes.
We are two weeks away from our celebration of learning. Just a reminder that this will be held on
June 13th at 2pm. Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to see students’ learning in action.
Warm regards,
Nina Willette, Principal
