Morning Routines Morning Routines

Morning Bell Reminder

The first bell rings at 8:53am. At this time, we ask families to begin exiting campus so that students can line up and teachers can transition into the start of the school day. Thank you for helping us create a calm and focused start for our students.

Teacher Prep Time

Teachers have prep time each morning from 8:25-8:55am. During this time, classroom doors remain locked so that teachers can prepare for the day. If you need to connect with a teacher, please send them an email so they can schedule a time to connect with you.

Guidelines for Keeping Students Home Guidelines for Keeping Students Home

As we head into cold and flu season, please take a moment to review OUSD's "Guidelines for keeping students home." These guidelines help ensure the health and safety of all students and staff. If your child is showing symptoms such as fever, vomiting, or persistent coughing, please keep them home until they are feeling better.

Your cooperation helps us keep our classrooms healthy and learning uninterrupted!

The following is being shared from OUSD...

Our district is committed to ensuring all students feel safe and supported at school. As part of this commitment, we are sharing our Board Policy: Response to Immigration Enforcement to keep our community informed about our practices. Here are some additional resources from the California Attorney General’s Office regarding your educational rights.

Every family should know that every child in the Oceanside Unified School District (OUSD) has the Constitutional right to attend school regardless of immigration status. OUSD does not request or record information about a student’s immigration status. Federal and state laws protect student information from disclosure to others, including Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). OUSD does not permit non-students, including ICE agents, access to OUSD facilities unless they can produce a warrant signed by a federal judge. School administrators will not permit the disclosure of confidential student information without first consulting their attorney to make sure that the information has been properly subject to a federal judge’s warrant.

Families should consult community resources to learn their rights and additional information will be provided to help families access these resources

To keep traffic moving safely and efficiently during arrival and dismissal, please remember the following:

1. Pull all the way forward in the drop-off/pick-up lane so we can unload and load multiple students at once.

2. Stay in your car while in the lane. The drop-off and pick-up lane is for quick loading and unloading only.

3. If you need extra time or need to walk your child in, please park in the designated visitor parking area instead of leaving your car unattended in the lane.

Thank you for helping us keep the drop-off and pick-up smooth and safe for all of our families and students.

Fall Festival Thanks!

A huge thank you to everyone who came out to make our Fall Fest Fundraiser such a success! It was an incredibly fun night on the McAuliffe blacktop, and this annual event is one of our favorite ways to kick off the fundraising year. Your support helps fund things like direct classroom grants, field trips, on-campus programming (like the Art Program and Science Garden), and community give-back events (like Movie Night)—just to name a few!

We’d also like to give a special shout-out to our amazing volunteers—these events wouldn’t be possible without you! This year, in addition to our generous parents and staff, we were thrilled to have a fantastic group of El Camino High School students helping out at the welcome table, game stations, and with setup and cleanup. Thank you all for your hard work and school spirit!

Important Reminder: Before School Student Supervision Important Reminder: Before School Student Supervision

Dear Families,

Please remember that there is no adult supervision for students before the school gates open at 8:25 AM.

OUSD District Cell Phone Policy OUSD District Cell Phone Policy

We are excited to share our new cell phone policy, "During the Day, Off and Away," for the 2024-2025 school year (Board Policy 5131.8). Our goal is to create a safe and focused learning environment for all students by minimizing distractions and promoting their mental well-being.

Key Points:

  • Cell Phone Usage: Students must turn off (ringer/tone/sounds off) and store their phones in their backpacks upon entering campus. Phones should stay off until they leave.

  • Exceptions: Students with specific accommodations (IEPs, 504 plans, or medical conditions) may have phone access as specified.

  • Communication: Classrooms have landlines for students to contact parents when necessary. Phones will be accessible in emergencies.

  • Academic Benefits: Reducing phone usage helps students stay focused and engaged in class.

  • Safety and Security: This policy helps prevent cyberbullying, ensures students focus during emergencies, and reduces the risk of theft or loss.

Support and disciplinary measures are in place for policy violations to help students adjust.

Thank you for your support as we work together to enhance our students' learning experience and well-being.

Mass Notifications Communication Platform Mass Notifications Communication Platform

OUSD messages families using a platform called Mass Notifications. This allows teachers and staff to send an email, text or voice message directly to the email address or phone number you have listed in Aeries. You no longer need to download any third party apps to receive messages from OUSD. The only district supported app that families should download is the OUSD app. It’s important that all the adults in your student’s life have updated contact information in Aeries so everyone can receive important messages from your student’s school.
