Harmony Day Prayer

Loving God,

We thank You for the beautiful diversity of our school community. Help us to celebrate our differences and embrace the unique gifts each person brings. Guide us to live in harmony,

showing kindness and respect to everyone we meet.

May our hearts be open to understanding and our actions reflect Your love. Help us to build a community where everyone feels valued and included. Let us be instruments of peace, spreading joy and compassion in all that we do.

Amen.

Dear Parents

Harmony Day Assembly

Harmony Week is a time to celebrate our diversity and bring together Australians from all backgrounds. It plays a vital role in fostering unity and inclusivity within our school community.

Tomorrow, we will celebrate Harmony Day. Children are encouraged to come to school dressed in either orange or traditional cultural dress. In the morning, there will be an assembly, and families are warmly invited to attend. During the assembly, all children will have the opportunity to participate in a parade, showcasing their cultural dress.

After recess, we will welcome a special performance by Moorditj Mob, a First Nations dance group from Wesley College. Parents are also invited to join us for this exciting event.

2026 Kindy Enrolments

Is your child turning 4 between 1st July 2025 and 30th June 2026? Make sure you have collected, completed and lodged an application form with the front office as soon as possible. Interviews for kindergarten positions have commenced and there are already a number of parents who have enrolled their children.

Pre-Kindy

I am very excited to announce that commencing Term 3 we will again be running a 3-Year-Old Kindy program. The Pre-Kindy program will be run for a full day on Tuesdays. The focus of the program is to create a smooth transition from home to the school environment, ensuring your child feels happy and safe in our care.

There are limited places available for those who take up the offer. Please contact the school office if you are interested in a Pre-Kindy place for your child.

P&F Dates

Our P&F have been very busy for the start of this year and there are a number of community activities and events planned. Dates we have for this semester are:

April 9 – Easter Raffle – Tickets were sent out this week and are due back by Friday April 4. Also, we are asking parents to send their Easter donations in for the raffle by April 4.

LENT

The season of Lent is upon us. This season is an invitation to put aside the many distractions around us and give time and space to God and to others.

PROJECT COMPASSION

Spanning across the 40 days of Lent, Project Compassion brings thousands of Australian schools and parishes together to raise funds for people living in some of the most vulnerable communities across the world.

For the remainder of this term we will be inviting children to contribute to project compassion – all funds raised will be collated at the end of the term and passed onto Caritas Australia to support these communities in need. All the support you are able to provide will be gratefully received.

One of the yearly highlights of Project Compassion is the opportunity to engage with the stories that show the difference Project Compassion makes to the lives of others. I would encourage you to look at one of the stories on the Caritas website to see how our contributions are helping others.

You can support Project Compassion 2025 through the donation boxes or by scanning the QR code below.

Thank you for standing with us as we Unite Against Poverty this Lent.

THE SOLEMNITY ANNUNCIATION OF THE LORD MASS

Our Year 4 students will lead us in a whole school Mass in the Church next Tuesday, 25 March. All families are welcome to join us.

COLLABORATIVE CONFERENCES COLLABORATIVE CONFERENCES

Next week we will be holding Collaborative Conferences. These Parent-Student-Teacher meetings provide an opportunity for parents, students and teachers to sit together and discuss your child’s progress to date this year; as well as bring up any questions, queries or concerns that either you, your child or the teacher may have.

These Collaborative Conferences are important occasions that help us work together to provide the best possible learning opportunities for your children.

Collaborative Conferences will be held on:

Monday, 24 March from 2:10pm to 6:00pm; and

Wednesday, 26 March from 3:00pm to 5:30pm

If you are unavailable to meet with your child’s teacher on these days and would like to do so, please make alternate arrangements by contacting them.

Bookings are currently open and will close this Friday, 21 March at 3pm.

NAPLAN NAPLAN

NAPLAN assessments will take place from the 12 March until the 24 March. Assessments are given in reading, writing, spelling, grammar and punctuation and numeracy. Students will complete the assessments online, except for the Year 3 Writing assessment, which will be completed on paper. The NAPLAN brochure sent home at the beginning of the term, to the parents of Year 3 and 5 students, gives more information about NAPLAN.

The NAPLAN assessments are one of the methods that schools use to determine the achievement of our students and can support school improvement by enabling teachers to monitor their students' progress over time against the national measure. It provides additional information to support teacher judgement about improvement in a child's level of literacy and numeracy.

Teachers will be working with students to ensure they are familiar with the test format, but it is important not to overstate the importance of the tests or to build up anxiety in the children.
