Welcome Back Lieck Families!

We are excited that the first day of school is just a few days away! August 10th to be exact! We hope that you and the family had a restful and relaxing summer and are ready for the new school year to begin. The Lieck Elementary staff has been working hard preparing for student return and we are excited to begin. We are honored to be able to serve and support the Lieck community and we are committed to providing a high level quality education to your child. Thank you for choosing Lieck as your elementary school, the best in NISD!!

Welcome, Ms. Amy Perez!

Please join us in welcoming Ms. Amy Perez as our new Associate Principal!

Many of our families know Ms. Perez from her outstanding work as our STEM teacher. We are excited for her to continue serving the Lieck community in this new leadership role and know she will make a positive impact on our students, staff, and families.

Please help us congratulate Ms. Perez on this exciting new chapter! She can be reached at Amy.Perez@nisd.net.

Our school mission states, "Every day, Lieck Lions grow through quality and meaningful experiences." Our teachers have been working through the summer months to develop plans to support our learners. Our campus efforts will focus in closing achievement gaps in both reading and math.

To support our goals in math, we are excited to continue to have the support of a part time Math Staff Development Support Teacher, Mrs. Petty. With her support we will be able to continue to develop our teachers in math through our Professional Learning Community (PLC) and in turn support overall student achievement. In the area of reading we also have a full time Literacy Leader, Ms. Trevino. She too helps teachers plan through effective teaching strategies and teacher collaboration. As part of Professional Learning Communities (PLC) teachers collaborate with one another to plan for meaningful and engaging lessons, monitor student progress and create effective plans for intervention or enrichment.

Additionally this year we will really focus on utilizing our campus wide intervention block from 8:00-8:30 where teachers will plan for targeted intervention and enrichment. "Rise and Shine" time will be Monday - Thursday and students will be working on their goals in the area of reading and math. Online research based intervention programs will be available to students throughout the year.

This year we will also delve into supporting the whole child by providing daily Social Emotional Lessons through our daily morning meetings. Our guidance counselors, Ms. Gonzales Hernandez and Ms. Mallorie Sarro, will provide meaningful lessons to all grade levels and are also available to meet with students in small groups and one on one as needed.

Our DISTRICT theme this year is Driven with Purpose

Our SCHOOL theme is: Lieck Elementary: One Team. One Goal. Driven with Purpose!
(Think all things SPORTS! We are going to have FUN with this one!)

Early next week, expect a postcard in the mail with your child's name, teacher and classroom number! We look forward to seeing everyone at our Meet the Teacher Night that will be on Thursday, August 6th from 4:30-6:30pm. This is a come and go event where you will be able to meet the teacher, drop off your supplies and tour the campus. Additionally PTA will have a table set up to get you registered to become a PTA member and get your 2026-2027 spirit shirt!

We look forward to a great partnership with our families. Neither of us can do it alone, and we look forward to partnering in helping your child(ren) grow this school year.

Thank you for taking the time to carefully read our newsletter. We are looking forward to a GREAT year!

Ms. Jessica Garza

WELCOME BACK STUDENTS!!

Breakfast starts at 7:00am

Instructional Schedule: 7:45am-3:00pm

Drop Off and Dismissal

Parents, you are welcome to walk your child to class during the first two days of school however effective Day 3 our staff will guide your child to their classroom thereafter. You can drop off your child curbside or at the door and our staff will take over from there.

Additionally at dismissal, we highly encourage for families to remain in their vehicle at front pick-up to avoid unsafe, unnecessary crowding. For our "walk-up" parents, we will continue to use the side areas as waiting areas and we will bring your child to you.

🚌New this upcoming school year: Register to ride the bus🚌 🚌New this upcoming school year: Register to ride the bus🚌

To ensure smooth, reliable bus transportation for the 2026–2027 school year, eligible families must register their students in advance.

Northside ISD provides school bus transportation for students who live more than two miles from their assigned neighborhood campus. Students residing within the two-mile walk zone are generally not eligible unless their route includes a Board-approved Hazardous Traffic Condition.

“Registering early helps us plan routes efficiently and make sure every eligible student has a smooth start on the first day of school,” said Transportation Director Tesi Soliz. “We encourage families to complete the quick registration process as soon as it opens so we can provide the safest and most reliable service possible.”

Families can use the Buses & Boundaries System to check whether their physical address qualifies for bus transportation.

Families new to Northside ISD may register for bus service during the New Student Registration process. Currently enrolled families can sign up during the Returning Student Registration, which begins March 16.

To guarantee transportation on the first day of school, all eligible students – new and returning – must register by June 30.

Bus transportation for eligible special education and magnet school students will be scheduled separately.

Udpate Your Child's Immunizations

Texas law requires all public school children to have current immunizations to attend class. Northside ISD encourages parents to have their children immunized before the first day of school.

For more information please visit https://www.nisd.net/schools/health/vaccinations

A Word from the Nurse

The school nurse does not diagnose illnesses but takes notes of the symptoms and notifies the parent/guardian of the observations. If a child becomes ill or injured at school, the student will be assessed and given first aid, and the parent/guardian will be notified if the severity of the injury or illness warrants such action.

Children should be kept at home when ill and are expected to be free of fever (temperature less than 100.0° F) and free of communicable diseases in order to attend school. In accordance with the Texas Administrative Code, students are required to be excluded from school until fever free for 24 hours, without the use of fever-reducing medications. The Texas Department of State Health Services defines fever as a temperature of 100.0°F or greater. This is important for the health of the child and for the health of all children at the school.

Student Dress Code

The NISD Board of Trustees approved revisions to the District’s dress code policies for the 2026-2027 school year. The new policy allows for the wearing of shorts by all students (Pre-K -12) as long as the shorts are mid-thigh length or longer. As with the previous policy, the final determination of acceptable dress and grooming rests with the campus principal or his/her designee. Guidelines for the new dress and grooming policy are available in the linked file.
