Volume 5/Issue 1 - August 17th, 2025

WELCOME BACK!

I hope you and your family had a wonderful summer. We are excited to welcome everyone back to school and kick off the new academic year. This year, we'll continue to focus on our core goals of academic excellence, personal growth, and community engagement.

While we have our big goals, we also want to celebrate the small things that makes SRC special. The brief hallway conversations, the "aha" moments in class, the shared laughter during lunch, and the everyday acts of kindness that make our communities a supportive and great place to learn.

We know that great things are a collection of small things done well. By focusing on these moments, we can create an environment where every student, staff member, and parent feels valued and connected. Culture is built 30 seconds at a time.

Here's to a great year filled with big achievements and countless small joys!

✨Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST)✨

Congratulations goes to our own Becky Schueth who has been named a State Finalist for this award!

This is the highest honors bestowed by the United States government specifically for K-12 science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and/or computer science teaching. Awards are given to science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and/or computer science teachers who have both deep content knowledge of the subjects they teach and the ability to motivate and enable students to be successful in those areas.

Mrs. Schueth is currently teaching high school mathematics here at SRC. This is her 11th year at S-RC and I teach Geometry, Technical Math, College Algebra, PreCalculus and Calculus. Becky has 20 years of experience in teaching and she began her career at Columbus High School. Mrs. Schueth Bachelor’s (2005) and Master’s (2009) degrees are from Wayne State College. She enjoys sharing her excitement for math with her students each day!

When you see her, please make sure you congratulate her on this incredible achievement! We are all proud and rooting for you!

    Message from Mr. Tejkl

    Small Efforts...

    Good evening!

I hope you had a great weekend and are ready for our first FULL week of school! We had an amazing start to the school year with many smiles, a lot of laughs, and a review of the expectations of what it means to be a HUSKY! I am ready to have us set our goals and to make the most of our time together! There will be challenges but I truly believe we will have many triumphs throughout the year!

Success is rarely the result of a single, grand effort. Instead, it's built on the small sums of our daily actions. As author Robert Collier put it, "Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out." This simple idea reminds us that the path to achieving big goals isn't about one huge breakthrough, but about the consistent, often unseen, work we put in every day. Whether it's a student mastering a new concept, an athlete training for a competition, or an adult tackling a long-term project, it's the small steps—the daily study sessions, the consistent practice, the continuous improvements—that build a solid foundation for lasting accomplishment.

This perspective can make even the most daunting tasks feel manageable. Instead of getting overwhelmed by the final destination, we can focus on the next small step. Did you review your notes for 15 minutes? That's a success. Did you write one paragraph of your paper? Did you walk 10,000 steps? Winning! That's a victory. Each of these small efforts builds momentum, turning an intimidating challenge into a series of achievable tasks. By consistently showing up and doing the work, we aren't just making progress; we're also building the habits of discipline and resilience that are essential for any kind of success.

What do you want to accomplish as a student? As a staff member? As a parent? Is there something that you want to be better at, personally or professionally? Write down what you want to accomplish, set up a plan, and be consistent for the next 9 months! Let's start the year off on a great note and keep improving each day!

Have a great rest of your Sunday!

Quote of the week to reflect on:

""Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day-in and day-out."

    Robert Collier

    Sincerely,

    Tucker Tejkl
