We Are Grateful for Our Families! 💛
Dear NLABC Families,
Although it may feel a bit early, we want to take a moment before the busy holiday season begins to wish all our families a very Happy Thanksgiving! This time of year always reminds us how grateful we are for the incredible support and partnership we receive from you. Your involvement, encouragement, and trust make all the difference, and we are truly thankful that you share your amazing children with us, the very best students in ASD!
As we reflect on the fall season, we’re also proud to celebrate the many successes of our students both in and out of the classroom. Our Cross Country and Boys Basketball teams had fantastic seasons, showing teamwork, perseverance, and Tiger pride. We’re now looking forward to the start of Girls Volleyball and can’t wait to cheer them on as they take the court!
We also want to remind everyone to keep turning those pages for our Tiger Reading Program! Students are doing a wonderful job building reading habits and meeting their goals. Remember, our school-wide challenge is to see if students can read enough pages, to send me to spend the night on the roof! So keep reading, Tigers, let’s make it happen!
From all of us at NLABC, thank you for being part of our school family. We look forward to the month ahead and we wish you a joyful and restful Thanksgiving filled with gratitude, laughter, and time with those you love most.
With appreciation and Tiger pride,
Mrs. Martin

As the holidays approach, it’s easy for routines to shift and schedules to get busy. During this time, it’s especially important that we remain consistent in supporting our students. Stability, encouragement, and continued engagement help them feel secure and thrive, even amidst the excitement and distractions of the season. Let’s work together to maintain a steady presence, reinforcing the habits, values, and learning that help every student succeed.
Please be kind & mindful of others

New Music Teachers
We’re so excited to welcome Ms. Piper and Mr. Lindsey to our NLABC music program! Your NLABC music team is working hard to build minds, skills, and community with all of our students.
Our elementary students are doing a great job in their music classes.
We are singing songs, playing instruments together,
moving with the music, and working on our music literacy skills. We’re also singing our traditional NLABC Thanksgiving songs in preparation for the feast!
If you’d like, ask your Kindergartener about the song “Pumpkin for the Pie”,
your 1st grader about “Tommy Turkey”, your 2nd grader about “A Turkey Named Bert,” your 4th grader about their Red White and Blue songs, and your 5th grader about the “Song of Thanksgiving.”
Choir
Congratulations to our all of Middle School students on their October Showcase Concert! We’re so proud of their growth over the past two months. Middle school students will be thinking about Solo and Ensemble next month. If they’d like to participate in Solo and Ensemble, a city-wide ASD music event on Feb. 6th, information will go out to interested families in January.
6th grade choir is doing a great job on their solfege and literacy skills. I’m proud of their growth!
All students are working hard to prep for their December concerts. It’s going to be a great year!
Join the Choir!
Singing is an irreplaceable part of your child’s education, but the benefits of choir are often misunderstood. Here are some of the benefits of singing in a choir:
Singing releases endorphins–think of how you might feel after singing along with your favorite song in the car.
Singing together is especially effective at creating social bonds and helping people to make friends.
Singing in a choir is considered an aerobic activity because it requires so much breathwork! It also improves posture, which is so important in today’s world.
Singing in a choir increases self-confidence.
And, new data is coming out showing that singing in a choir is effective in promoting neural connection, cognition, and overall brain health.
There are more benefits to come in future newsletters. In the meantime, think about joining choir!
