Hello, Hawks:

Welcome to the FUTURE! It's 2025. "Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith," one of my favorite movies, came out in 2005 even though it feels like it just came out a few years ago. I was born in the late 1900s, so I always looked at 2025 as when we'd all be driving flying cars and live in floating houses. I think these are just signs I'm getting old. Thankfully, I work with teens who confirm that!

We are nearing the end of 1st Semester, so here are some things to keep in mind:

1. Finals Week - It's fast-approaching! The end of 1st Semester is January 23. Make sure you understand what is expected of you in each of your classes. Do you have a semester exam? Do you have a big project that will come due? Do not procrastinate. (We do not have a special Finals Week bell schedule).

2. Schedule Changes - please check your Skyward to view your most accurate schedule. As you look over this, be sure that any year-long classes have both 1st and 2nd semesters (for example, do you have English 1st and 2nd semesters?). Counselors are still working on schedules. A final physical copy will be given to you in Focus the week of Jan 21st.

As a reminder: schedule change requests will only be considered the first five school days of the semester and only for the following reasons:

1. A missing period (no class) in the schedule.

2. Missing a semester of a full-year class

3. Double booked (for example, two 2nd period classes)

4. Have an advanced class scheduled but haven't passed the prerequisite.

5. A senior and missing a graduation requirement (CTE, Art, etc.).

Also, I will not approve schedule changes because you want a different lunch.

We had two students compete in the SkillsUSA Plumbing Competition today. Renner James (senior) placed 1st, while Lars Sarkinen (sophomore) placed 3rd. We sent two students and they took two of the top three spots! They're off to State!

Hawks will be competing in next week's SkillsUSA Framing Competition.
