Message from the Executive Headteacher Message from the Executive Headteacher

Summer certainly has arrived. The staff and children have put many adaptations in place which parents will be aware of, in addition all children spent time in the four air conditioned classes which we are lucky enough to have. The kitchen has responded with a different menu offering to suit the hot weather which the children really enjoyed. Thank you for working with us and supporting us.

Learning has continued and the children have been focusing on creativity this week as it is Arts Week, please see the online gallery to enjoy the children's work.

The Year 2 to Year 3 transition has already started, the year 3 teachers visited the children to read a story and will be returning, the transition events are carefully planned to ensure children are ready and happy.

Year 1 and 2 children enjoyed a visit from Hampton High drama students, please see the news story on our website.

Saturday will be the Summer Fair. It will likely be a little cooler and HPPA has planned a great event. We are holding a non uniform day on Friday in exchange for a full bottle (communication about this has already been sent out). Please come along and support the fair if you are able to make it.

As you know the current HPPA team is stepping down at the end of the term. Louise and the team have been tremendous advocates for HPPA and the numerous events have raised a significant amount for the schools as well as being enjoyable. I would like to thank Louise as Chair, Lucy as Treasurer and Mark who have gone above and beyond for the schools. Once the HPPA AGM has been held, I hope to be able to introduce the new team.

As you may be aware, breakfast clubs have been introduced and I have this week provided information and guidance to parents regarding them at HPP - link below.

Jobs

Year 2 Year 2

We have had an incredibly busy and exciting few weeks in Year 2, and we are so proud of how hard the children have been working. It has been non-stop fun and learning recently! The children did a fantastic job learning how to stay safe while having fun on their scooters and we turned them all into mini-architects to design and build our very own playground structures. A huge thank you to all the parents who came along to support the children during their sports day. The children absolutely loved having you there, and your cheers made the day extra special.

This week is Arts Week and Year 2 have been incredibly busy learning and being very creative. Our school theme this year is 'WILD', and the children have been crafting some stunning animals, leaves, and plants. They have thoroughly enjoyed experimenting with various art techniques—many of which they had never tried before. The classrooms are looking beautifully vibrant.

In Maths, we have dived into the world of measurement. Exploring the difference between: standard units (cm, m) and non-standard units (counting in footsteps or using blocks). The children have been getting hands-on and practical, using rulers and metre sticks to measure all sorts of objects around the classroom.

We have started a brilliant new book in English called The Floating Field by Scott Riley. It tells the beautiful, inspiring story of a group of Thai boys who want to play football so badly that they build a floating football pitch on stilts. With the excitement of the World Cup happening right now, the children are completely hooked! This story also links perfectly with our Geography topic, where we have been exploring the fascinating stilt village of Kampong Ayer.

On Tuesday, the children had a wonderful time meeting their new Year 3 teachers and enjoying a story together. Over the next few weeks, there will be plenty of opportunities for the children to get to know their new teachers to ensure a smooth and happy transition. The Year 3 teachers will also be around at Tuesday pick-up next week for a quick hello.

As we approach the end of the school year, we are busy preparing for our Leavers Assembly. Please help your child practice and learn their spoken lines and class poems at home. Confident voices make all the difference!

Amazon Wish Lists Amazon Wish Lists

Over the last few years families have very kindly contributed gifts to the school via the Amazon wish list. These gifts are always incredibly well received and have made such a difference to the school community and your children.

This Wish List is populated by teachers who have a clear understanding of the additional resources that are needed and what would make the biggest difference. When completing your purchase, please remember to include a gift receipt stating which year group it should go to and who it is from.

If you are able to make a purchase, please follow the links below:

Parking Parking

Reminder to all parents to be considerate to our neighbours when dropping off and collecting your child. Do not park on zig-zag lines, double yellow lines or block neighbours driveways. Parking on zig-zag lines blocks visibility for both drivers and pedestrians, particularly young children who may be harder to see. Please park legally and considerately, and allow extra time to find appropriate parking. Even better – consider walking, cycling or using a park-and-stride location if possible.
