Latest LMS Updates
The Hive | September 11, 2026
π Dear LMS Wildcat families,
We have had a great start to the 26-27 school year. The year of the Hive is buzzing with excitement and hard work already! As we get back into our routines, letβs continue to live out our STAR principles by showing respect, making good choices, and looking out for one another.
This week, we also pause to remember September 11th. We want to honor the first responders, heroes, and everyday people who showed incredible courage and selflessness on that day. We are grateful for those who continue to serve and protect our communities each day. Let's remember that we are stronger when we come together, support one another, and lead with kindness and courage, just as we do in our Hive here at LMS.

Attendance Matters
- Good attendance is essential to student achievement and graduation
- Based on research, chronic absenteeism marks the point where students start to fall behind academically.
- The district has specific policy, regulations and procedures in place to record, monitor and track absences over time.
- Occasionally children get sick and need to stay home. What is important is getting children to school as often as possible and avoiding any unnecessary absences.
- Please communicate regularly with your childβs school staff and let them know how we can best support you and your child for a successful school year where students attend school on time every day, whenever possible.
Nurse's Nook
Absences
π₯If your child will be absent, please let the nurse know by 8 am by email or phone and the reason for the absence.

Absences and Illness
π¦ Respiratory illness and stomach virus season is here.
- Please do not send a child to school sick. They have to be fever free without any fever reducing medications, vomit and diarrhea free for 24 hours before returning to school.
π·The respiratory illness guidelines (Flu, Covid, RSV) are:
Students may return to school when:
- Individual is fever free for 24 hours without fever reducing medication AND symptoms are improving, which means the individual is no longer feeling ill and able to participate comfortably in educational and other activities as they did before they were ill.
- Any remaining symptoms, such as cough or runny nose are mild or infrequent. Individuals can then return to normal activities, but they should take additional precautions for the next five days when they are around other people indoors.
Gym/Sports Notes
π₯Gym class is a graded class. Not participating every day will result in points deducted from overall grade unless they have a doctor's note indicating excusal.
- A doctor's note must be presented
- Must be signed by the provider
- Indicate the dates the student will miss PE Class and when they can come back to P.E. Class.
π©ΌIf a student will return to school with crutches, the doctor's note needs to state that they are able to use crutches at school.
Parents/Guardians can write an email requesting students to sit out of gym class for one day without a doctor's note, per marking period
