The IC Parent Portal will be turned on Monday, August 24th. You will be able to find out who your child's teacher is! At the Open House we encourage your family to drop off school supplies in your child's assigned locker at this time (name tags will be on the locker in the hall by the door to the classroom).

Kindergarten Get To Know You Conferences - August 26 from 3:00 - 6:00pm

This year the kindergarten families will have the opportunity to schedule a one on one time to meet their child's teacher. For sign up information please check your email, parent portal or click this link. Conferences

Oaklawn is part of a district wide grant to provide free breakfast and lunch to each student. Students are able to enter the school at 7:15am and get breakfast in the cafeteria. We still need families to fill out the Free/Reduced Meals application if they think they qualify. Families who qualify will get assistance for their child's field trips and sometimes state funding, grant money, etc use the statistics for free/reduced student counts. Food Department has sent letters to those families who have qualified for Free/Reduced Meals. If you didn’t get a letter and you think your family would qualify please complete the Free/Reduced Application form. The application is located in your IC Parent Portal under the “More” tab at the bottom then click on “Meal Benefits”. If you have any questions please call Mrs. Schiefelbein in the office. Link

All families are reminded to register their students in their IC Parent Portal. We still have families that are not confirmed as attending this year. Online Registration is required for all families before the start of every school year. If a grade level fills up before you sign up your child, they may have to attend a different school. Also NEW for this school year - the school district has included a field trip permission form with registration. You will need to complete the online registration for your child to be able to attend field trips.

The first day of school is Tuesday, September 1st. Students will line up with their class on the blacktop or sidewalk. Classes are in order from Kindergarten to 5th grade by teacher. Students can be dropped off between 7:15am and 7:40am. (All school free breakfast program. Parents will stay on the playground, students will go in to the cafeteria and eat and then return to the playground.) All students should be ready to enter the building at 7:40am. Note that hugs and well wishes will take place on the blacktop; for the safety of all students no visitors are allowed to enter the building with the class. Parents and guardians should access the main office through door #1 for any needs or questions at any point throughout the school year..

Teachers will bring their classes back out to the playground to their designated line up spot at the end of the school day. Parents of younger students should always check in with their child's teacher before taking a student off the playground.
