A Message From Mrs. Carmody A Message From Mrs. Carmody

Dear Fremont Families,

This week our bus riders participated in their first bus evacuation drill of the year. Practicing these routines is an important part of helping students understand how to stay safe and calm in the event of an emergency. For students who are not regular bus riders, an evacuation drill will take place later this month, before any field trips, so that all children have the opportunity to learn and practice these important safety procedures.

In the classrooms, students are continuing to settle into routines and build their independence. Teachers are guiding them in strengthening collaboration, problem-solving, and respectful communication while diving into new learning. It is wonderful to see our school community growing together.

Thank you for your continued support as we work to provide a safe, caring, and engaging environment for every student.

Sincerely,

Beth Carmody

Principal

In Healthy Minds this week, Mrs. Duffy read Respectful Rhino to Miss Duffin’s class. After the story, students reflected on what respect looks like in their own lives. They drew or wrote about times they showed respect at home and at school, then shared their examples with classmates during a sharing circle. It was a great way to connect the lesson to real-life experiences and celebrate positive choices.

Attendance Awareness Month: Start Strong! Attendance Awareness Month: Start Strong!

Welcome back, Wildcats! September is Attendance Awareness Month, and there’s no better time to start strong. Showing up each day helps students build routines, connect with classmates, and stay on track with learning. Let’s work together—families and school—to make attendance a priority from the very beginning. And as always, if your child is experiencing vomiting, diarrhea, or a fever, please keep them home until they’ve been symptom-free (without medication) for 24 hours.

Assessments Assessments

Three times a year we assess our students to see where they are on their personal learning path. We look for what supports or enrichments they may need. We will be continuing our use of the NWEA Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) test for all students. This is an untimed, computer based test that individually adjusts as a student answers the questions. As they answer correctly, the questions get harder. This testing will begin Monday, September 8.
