Dear Dealey Dragon Families,
πΈ Picture Day Reminder β Monday, March 2, 2026
Tomorrow, Monday, March 2, 2026, is Group and Class Picture Day.
In the Spring, this day is traditionally our βPicture Bestβ Day along with designated group attire (Choir, Band, organization shirts, etc.).
Please note:
β School uniforms are not required for this day.
β The Dallas ISD dress code is still required.
β No jogging pants.
β No holes in pants.
β Students participating in groups should wear their designated group attire (Choir, Band, club shirts, etc.).
β βBest dressedβ is the rule of the day.
We look forward to seeing our Dragons dressed confidently and representing their organizations with pride!
π³οΈ Voting Location Update β Tuesday
There has been a change regarding voting on Tuesday.
I reached out to verify our campus usage, and Dealey will not be used by Dallas ISD Real Estate nor the Dallas County Elections Department as a polling location.
Our instructional day will operate as normal, and there will be no external voter access to the building.
Thank you for your flexibility as we work to ensure accurate communication for our community.
As we step into March, we are reminded that this season represents growth, reflection, and renewal β all values deeply rooted in the Montessori philosophy and the global perspective of our International Academy.
This week, we celebrate the power of literacy, community partnership, and academic excellence.
π Read Across America Day β Monday, March 2
On Monday, our Dragons will join schools across the nation in celebrating Read Across America Day.
At Dealey, literacy is not simply about reading words on a page β it is about constructing meaning, developing independence, and understanding the world around us. In a Montessori classroom, literacy is woven into purposeful work, student choice, cultural studies, research, and interdisciplinary exploration. Our students do not just learn to read β they read to learn.
As an International Academy, literacy also means global awareness. Through literature, our students explore diverse cultures, perspectives, and ideas that expand their worldview and cultivate empathy.
As we reflect on the importance of reading, I am reminded of this powerful quote:
βReading is to the mind what exercise is to the body.β β Joseph Addison π
Reading strengthens comprehension, critical thinking, imagination, and communication β skills that prepare our Dragons for leadership both locally and globally.
We encourage every family to take time this week to read together, visit the library, and discuss stories that spark curiosity and meaningful conversation.
π Womenβs History Month
March is Womenβs History Month, and at Dealey, we proudly honor the contributions of women throughout history and across the world.
Aligned with Montessoriβs emphasis on cultural studies and peace education, our classrooms will spotlight women who have shaped science, government, literature, civil rights, education, and global innovation. Our goal is always to ensure that our students see themselves reflected in the curriculum while learning to appreciate the contributions of others.
When students understand history fully, they are empowered to shape the future with confidence and compassion.
ππ€ Denim & Diamonds β With Deep Gratitude
Our Denim & Diamonds Auction and Dinner was a beautiful reflection of Dragon pride, partnership, and community investment.
I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to:
π Mrs. Jacobs, PTA President β Thank you for your leadership, vision, and dedication to strengthening the connection between school and home. Your service continues to elevate Dealey in meaningful ways.
π Mrs. Haley, Denim & Diamonds Auction Chair β Thank you so much for all of your hard work on this yearβs auction and dinner. The countless hours of planning, coordination, and attention to detail did not go unnoticed. Your commitment helped create a memorable and successful evening for our families and staff. We are deeply grateful for your dedication to Dealey.
π Chad Redel and all of our parent auctioneers β Thank you for bringing energy, enthusiasm, and professionalism to the evening. Your contributions helped make the event both exciting and successful.
π To all of our parents and staff who attended, donated, sponsored, volunteered, or contributed in any way β thank you. Your generosity and presence make a tangible difference in the experiences we are able to provide for our students.
You are appreciated.
Dealey thrives because of the strength of its community.
π Important Academic Reminder
Please note that Friday, March 6, 2026 marks the end of the 9-Weeks Grading Period.
We encourage students to finalize assignments, communicate with teachers as needed, and finish this grading cycle with excellence. Our Montessori framework supports student ownership and responsibility β now is the time to demonstrate both.
As always, thank you for trusting us with your children. At Dealey Montessori & International Academy, we remain committed to nurturing independent thinkers, compassionate leaders, and globally minded scholars.
Letβs have a strong and purposeful week, Dragons. πβ¨
With pride and gratitude,
Loveβ€οΈ Principal Amber Garrett
