Weekly Wrap-Up #8.5: 10/15/2026
Wrapping up This Week + News for the Weeks to Come
From the Principal's Mind...
Thank you for giving time to partner with us! I'm keeping it short this week!
The School District's Culture & Climate Survey is also open for Families and Communities. QR codes are available around the building, in Class Dojo, and below. Your survey is open until November 13th. Each of our families' voices is important. In advance, thank you for taking the time to let us know how we might partner better with you and to celebrate with us the things we are doing well. It all matters!

No Friday Wrap Up, so another short newsletter.
As always, If you need anything, call, send me a private message via Class Dojo, or email at kathy.sather@tsd.org. Your child(ren) matter and our partnership to support them does as well!

TSD COMMUNITY NEWS
TSD School of Choice Window Opens Soon
Are you interested in having your student attend a Thompson School District school outside of your assigned neighborhood boundary? The School of Choice application window for the 2027–2028 school year opens soon! Application Window: November 3, 2026 – January 29, 2027 Who Should Apply: Current TSD students wishing to transfer, as well as out-of-district families currently attending TSD (out-of-district families must reapply each year). For more details or to submit an application, visit tsd.org/choice. If you have questions, please contact Central Registration at centralregistration@tsd.org or 970-613-6877.
Want to get involved as a VOLUNTEER?
Are you interested in volunteering? Cas Wingard is our Volunteer Coordinator. Here's some information to help you decide... Volunteers Can Do a Variety of Tasks Such As
Listen to students read
- Tutor students
- Make bulletin board displays
- Copy & prepare materials
- Quiz students on spelling words
- File paperwork
- Set up labs
- Give presentations
- Grade papers – but not post grades in gradebook or database
In order to volunteer for Thompson School District, volunteers must do the following:
o One-Time Volunteers: Get a sex offender background check with the Secretary by presenting their ID to her/him.
o All Other Volunteers: Register online and get a full background check at tsd.org/volunteer - This includes those who work from home, after school, or for a field trip. (Instructions for registering are attached in 3 languages.)
Volunteers do NOT have to re-register every year. Once they are registered, the registration is good for life. Virginia, school secretary, Cas Wingard, school volunteer coordinator, and Lisa Wegener in the VITAL Office can check if you are already registered to volunteer.
Our volunters make a difference at Garfield! In advance, thank you!
NUTRITION SERVICES INFO
Linq Connect
Meal Benefits: Do I need to fill it out? Yes!
All families are still highly encouraged to fill out an application. Why? The Healthy School Meals for All (HSMA) program is funded in partnership with federal nutrition programs that rely on income information to support meals for all students. Other state and federal grants are awarded based on free and reduced meal eligibility rates.
Additionally, families that qualify may receive discounted or waived fees for programs inside and outside of the school district. Applications are available to all households at school sites and online at linqconnect.com. Applications need to be completed annually (after mid-July) for the new school year. The information provided on the application is confidential and is not shared without your consent.
Linq Connect is your “one stop shop” for information and resources including menus, student meal accounts and household income / meal eligibility applications. It’s easy to register – just go to linqconnect.com to get started. You may also access information through
the main TSD website by clicking on Departments and Nutrition Services.
