Vivaldi Gloria with the Lake Forest Civic Orchestra
On March 17, the Foresters Singers and the Select Singers T/B will be performing the masterwork, Vivaldi’s Gloria with the Lake Forest Civic Orchestra at Gorton Center. This is a multi-movement piece and will feature student soloists! It is a huge honor to be playing with this group and a great opportunity for our students to perform a choral classic with strings! Tickets can be purchased at https://www.lakeforestcivicorchestra.org/. Students will be performing select movements with strings at our concert on March 13. This is a concert not to be missed!
In preparation for this great event, students will be working with several guest conductors in the next couple of weeks! :)
Congratulations to our student soloists!

After our spring concert, students will be using class time to audition for ensembles next year. Students will have to sight read, do tonal memory, and show their musicianship skills. We will be going over further details in class next week. Click the Title link to see what will be on the audition.
If you know of any rising 8th graders, please encourage them to sign up for Select Singers in school next year. I'd also be happy to reach out to any parents/rising choir singers personally to let them know more about the choir program.
APPLAUSE EXCELLENCE IN MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP
The Applause Scholarships recognize outstanding accomplishments by LFHS senior music students and encourage their further study of music. They are awarded to one student each in band, orchestra and chorus, with an additional discretionary award. All Seniors are encouraged to apply! Application Form
NY TRIP Success!!
This past weekend, 18 choir and theater students went to New York for a cultural trip. While there the students saw three shows (Back to the Future, Madama Butterfly, and Wicked) and went to three different museums (9/11 Memorial Museum, Museum of Broadway, and the Museum of Modern Art). The students also had the opportunity to do a talk back with Mrs. Mah's friend, Chelsea Shephard, and Mr. Begale's friend, Paul Loesel. Chelsea is on the roster at the Metropolitan Opera and performed in Madama Butterfly and Paul has been the pianist for Wicked since it opened twenty years ago. For me, this was super special for students to hear how these artists started right where our students are and are now living their dreams as performers.
We are hoping to potentially run this trip again as it was a huge success. Shout out to Sue Pipal at Blueprint Tours for organizing an amazing trip!
