Hello, Pierce School Families!

My name is Alisha Hansen-Proulx and I am very excited to introduce

myself as the new principal of Pierce School. I am honored to

have been chosen to lead such an amazing school and community.

I have heard so many positive things about the students, teachers

and families.

I believe that great schools start with great teachers and my primary goal is

to continue to support the staff of Pierce School and to provide them with the tools they

need to continue to be successful and help children grow and prosper. I am thrilled about

this school year and look forward to working with families and the community to ensure that

the students of Pierce have a school year filled with quality instruction and fun. Please get

involved with our school PTO to guarantee that your voices are heard, and know that my door

is always open. I look forward to meeting with you, and I encourage you to reach out to me

with any questions or thoughts you want to share. It takes a village to raise a child, and I

look forward to our partnership together this year!

I love to travel!

I got to visit my twin daughters in Athens, Greece, while they were studying abroad in college a couple of years ago. This was taken at the Parthenon.

Rescuing animals has always had a huge place in my heart...

These are half of our animals, we have three dogs and three cats. Violet is the dog on the left with our baby kitty in her arms, Jasper. Ivy is on the side and she is our old girl, who keeps everyone in line and barks about squirrels and the mailman.

We love to ski in the winter!

When it is cold and snowy, our favorite place to be is outside skiing. This is my son and me, skiing at Mt. Sunapee.

Students learn best when they feel safe, know they are cared about, and have strong routines.

At Pierce School, we want students to be able to point out at least 3 trusted adults, to feel that they are safe at school, and be able to anticipate the daily routines.

Being outdoors and exploring nature is amazing!

When kids get to take their learning outdoors, they also get built-in movement breaks, fresh air, and the opportunity to enhance their learning with nature. We are very lucky to have connection programs like Cornucopia, the Harris Center and Susie Spikol, who bring even greater outdoor learning opportunities to Pierce students.

Building community

Restorative justice circles help students respect one another. Students are going to face challenges when they are in school, whether they have a hard time sharing a friend or feeling like something happened that was unexpected, and working through those issues together with a trusted adult can help build a stronger community.
