Welcome Back, Caregivers and Students!

Welcome back to a new school year! We hope everyone had a wonderful summer filled with time to relax, recharge, and make special memories. As we begin another exciting year together, the PTO is thrilled to welcome all of our returning families and extend a special welcome to those who are new to our school community. There is something special about the energy that comes with a new school year, and we are so excited to see what this year will bring!

The PTO has been busy behind the scenes planning, dreaming, and preparing for a fun-filled year. We have several new events and activities in the works, along with some favorite traditions that we know our students and families look forward to each year. Our goal is to create opportunities for our school community to come together, celebrate our students, support our teachers and staff, and make lasting memories along the way.

We are incredibly grateful for the continued support and involvement of our caregivers. A strong PTO is truly a team effort, and there are many ways to get involved—whether you have a little time to give, can volunteer at an event, have an idea to share, or simply want to cheer us on from the sidelines. We look forward to partnering with all of you to make this a wonderful year for our students and school community.

We are thrilled to let you know that our school is kicking off the Apex Color Games. This is a high energy, fun-filled, two-week fundraiser brought to us by Apex and Murray Middle School PTO. Throughout the program, students rally support from family and friends to help our school, and it all wraps up with the unforgettable Apex Color Games event: color, games, music, raffles, and a whole lot of smiles.

• Get started online. Students log in at MyApexEvent.com using the unique access code they receive on Launch Rally Day.

• Make it personal. Add a picture or a video of your student explaining what is happening on campus and asking for some support!

• Share their page. Help connect your student to sponsors by sharing their donation page via email, text, Facebook, and X using the Share tab. Sponsors can enter and pay their donations online.

• Earn prizes. Students earn fun prizes along the way as their donation totals grow.

Earn into the event. Students who raise a minimum of $30 earn their way into the Apex Color Games celebration.

Donation deadline. All donations must be paid online before event day, to count.

We’re excited to introduce a new Murray Highlights section, celebrating the positivity, creativity, and fun happening throughout our school! Caregivers, staff or students can submit a labeled photo (with permission from everyone pictured) or a few sentences sharing something special happening at Murray to be featured in the next newsletter. Let’s celebrate all the wonderful things happening in our school community!

Several Murray students, along with young players from other schools who play with the Como Tennis Club, were invited to New York City for the US Tennis Open. While there, they had the incredible opportunity to step onto the courts and show spectators that tennis is a sport that can be enjoyed and played at any age. What an amazing experience and a wonderful way to represent Murray and the Como Tennis Club!

It was so exciting to welcome our incoming 6th graders at Camp 6 in the morning and begin getting to know our newest Murray students. We were also thrilled to see so many 7th and 8th graders back at school for our new Open House format. The Doodle Booth added a little extra fun to the evening, and it was great to see our school community coming together to kick off the new school year!

A special shout-out to all of our NJHS and WEB students who helped make both events such a success! Their enthusiasm, leadership, and willingness to jump in and volunteer their time made a huge difference!

Murray spirit wear is still available for purchase through our showroom at Thread Art. Orders can be shipped directly to your home for a fee, or you may choose free pickup at the store. For an additional no-cost option, the PTO will periodically pick up orders and deliver them to the school—perfect if you are not in a hurry. Be sure to browse the latest selections, including our special Murray 100th Anniversary shirts, a wonderful way to celebrate this milestone year while showing your school spirit!
