Warren School Weekly Update

May 31, 2024
I am amazed that today is the last day of May, and we will be ending school in a few short weeks. Time truly flies!
This week, our second graders had an exciting visit to the Mindess School. They met the principal, Mrs. Larrenaga, and were thrilled to see Mrs. Altman again. Mindess students graciously provided tours, showing our classes various aspects of the school. It was a wonderful experience for our second graders as they begin to look forward to the next step in their educational journey.
As you may recall from our curriculum nights, we have been utilizing ST Math during the school day, not at home. However, with summer approaching, we are pleased to announce that ST Math will be accessible over the summer! Starting in June, students can access ST Math from home, and their journeys will remain open throughout the summer. Please look out for more information that will be shared by your child’s teacher. Our goal this summer is to have students continue their ST Math journey to support their math growth. Students can play ST Math fairly independently, whenever it works best for your schedule.
In other exciting news, our students set a new Warren School record during a fire drill this week! The students and staff safely exited the school in 1 minute and 42 seconds, almost 30 seconds faster than our previous best time. This is the best time in the last 8 years that I have been at the Warren School. Great job, everyone!
Additionally, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our amazing PTO and the fantastic turnout at Dairy Queen for our Warren School Takes Over DQ night. The weather seemed to be perfect for a frozen treat and getting together with friends. It was an exciting event that truly showcased our strong community spirit.
Have a great weekend,
Pete Regan
Principal

Important Update from Nutrition Services
Hello Parents and Guardians,
As we near the end of another successful school year at Ashland Public Schools, I wanted to touch base with a few important reminders, especially for those families whose students will not be returning next year.
If you’ve been using autopay on www.myschoolbucks.com to add funds for a la carte purchases to your child's meal account, we kindly request that you DISABLE AUTOPAY now to prevent any unnecessary reloads over the summer break. Despite our best efforts to manage account balances, autopay can sometimes lead to complications, so it's best to take this precaution.
Additionally, please keep in mind that we can only issue refunds for amounts exceeding $10.00. If your child has remaining funds below this threshold, you have the option to:
1. Transfer the balance to a sibling or another student who will be returning next year.
2. Donate the funds to support a student in need. We'll ensure the transfer is handled anonymously.
Seniors, if there are any funds left on your account, please visit the cashier at the High School to specify your preferences for handling the remaining balance.
Parents, please submit your transfer and donation requests, including your child’s name, ID number. Additionally, for refunds, please provide the address where the check should be sent.
Please send your request and questions to
Regina Wilkinson (rwilkinson@ashland.k12.ma.us) and
Paula Caffrey (pcaffrey@ashland.k12.ma.us).
Thank you for your attention to these matters as we wrap up the school year. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
Warm regards,
Regina Wilkinson
