From September 15 to October 15, we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month! Throughout the month, we will recognize the rich cultures, histories, traditions, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities.
We are proud to celebrate the languages, cultures, and experiences our students and families bring to our school community each day. We encourage families to celebrate at home by sharing a favorite tradition, family story, song, book, or meal with your child.

Join us for a Dual Language Parent Night! Families will have an opportunity to learn more about our Dual Language Program and how students develop skills in both English and Spanish. We will also help families understand NWEA MAP and ACCESS scores, what the results tell us about student learning, and how you can support your child’s continued growth.

Our students are building their English reading skills through UFLI Foundations, which provides explicit practice with letter sounds, blending, decoding, and spelling.
Try this at home: When reading with your child, choose a few simple English words and ask them to say the sounds, blend the sounds together, and read the whole word. For example: m-a-p → map. Encourage your child to notice how some English sounds may be similar to—or different from—sounds in Spanish. Celebrate the effort, even when the word isn't perfect!
Strong emotions can make it difficult for children to problem-solve. Practice this simple strategy at home:
1. Name it: “I feel frustrated.”
2. Pause: Take three slow breaths.
3. Choose it: Ask, “What is one positive choice I can make next?”
You can model this too! Saying, “I’m feeling frustrated, so I’m going to take a breath before I respond,” shows children how to manage emotions in a healthy way.
Family Challenge: Try using Name It & Choose It together at least once this week!
