4 Weeks Remain
April 20, 2026
End of the School Year Approaches
It's hard to believe, but after today we only have 4 weeks of school remaining in this school year. The last day of school for elementary students (this is different for middle and high school students) will be Monday, May 18. If you recall, we have been on a very compacted school calendar throughout this year in order to allow for the maximum number of summer days possible to complete several major construction projects across the district. For the latest construction updates on the three biggest projects, click on these links: West / Hoover / Kennedy
Also, as the end of our school year approaches, there are many special events that take place at Franklin. You'll read more about some of these coming events in this newsletter, but you should also watch closely for communication from your child's homeroom teacher regarding classroom-specific events. It's going to be a very exciting last 20 days!

East vs. West Events
It's always exciting in our community when Mankato East and Mankato West engage in any competition. It's always extra intense when both teams are really good, which is often the case when the baseball and softball teams compete. Tuesday, April 21st provides an opportunity for fans to see these teams compete again, and it's going to be a beautiful evening. Come out and support your favorite team, and see several former Franklin Falcons compete at the varsity level. Plus, you can see Ms. Johns displaying her legendary coaching skills (although you'll see her wearing Scarlet red).
East vs. West softball - Caswell Field 5 @ 5:00 PM
East vs. West baseball - ISG Stadium @ 6:30 PM
Other Big Announcements
Here's some more exciting news on the horizon. The new playground equipment our PTO helped to fund will be arriving soon, and installation of the 6 new swings will occur between May 26 - May 28. We will also have two brand new soccer goals delivered soon, but we will hold off installing them until just before school begins next year. We want to be sure our students are the first ones who get to use them next fall, and we want to save the goals from the wear and tear that might occur over the summer.
Another big event, associated with our PTO fundraising efforts, is also coming soon. Students continue to ask Mr. Johnson when he's going to sleep on the roof (the fundraising motivator this year), and that time is near. We are closely monitoring the weather forecast, and once the day is chosen it will be shared with all our students and families.
