Message from Dr. Slater
Hello, to the families and community of Johnson City Schools. I am very grateful and honored to be here working alongside very caring and talented people here in JCS. As I make my way around the district visiting each building, I continue to be in awe of the professional and caring presence of our staff.
Whether you have students in the district or are a community member, you should be proud of Johnson City Schools. Not only is JCS one of the top school systems in East Tennessee, but our students are state and nationally competitive in academic achievement. Our pathways, programming and extracurricular opportunities set us apart. We appreciate the support of our families and our community to help us provide a stellar education for Johnson City School students.
I’m excited for all we will accomplish together during the 202-2026 school year.

Attendance is IMPORTANT!
It is essential that each student be present every day school is in session. Research indicates there is a direct correlation between school attendance and success in school. We believe it is important to expect and to assist students in being in school and on time. Students who are present at school derive maximum benefit from the instructional program and develop habits of punctuality, self-discipline, and responsibility.

Share your Good News!
The Johnson City Schools' Communication Department is looking for suggestions for features stories to share with our community. This could be anything you think parents, students or the public want or need to know about can be good features. We're talking student achievements, teachers doing cool things in their classrooms, school programs or offerings that could benefit from a little awareness, clubs... Anything. If there's a visual component – something or someone I could photograph to go along with it – it will be even more engaging. We would love to hear your ideas!
Please reach out to Nathan Baker or Collin Brooks with your suggestions.
