GIRL SCOUT NEWS

Congratulations to our 5th Grade Girl Scouts Juniors Addison Campelo, Aria Gupta, & Tanvi Koya. These Girl Scouts obtained the Girl Scout Bronze Award which is the highest honor a 4th or 5th grader can earn, representing a significant commitment to leadership and community service. To achieve this, these Girl scouts first completed a Junior Journey and then a dedicate team-based "Take Action" project that addresses a real-world need. Our 5th grade Girl Scouts identified a need in our school community of searching and retrieving recess balls that were kicked off far beyond the school fence into a valley. They created a plan and communication to mobilize their 3rd Grade Girl Scout sisters to help in their “Recess Ball Search & Find Rescue Mission” with the support of Ms. Elaina Forney, Principal Cerasoli, the Student Governance Council, and their Girl Scout leaders Caitlin Campelo and Reena Gupta. A special thank you to their 3rd Grade Girl Scout sisters: Mishika Bajaj, Iris Campelo, Syesha Gohil, Mira Gupta, Aryani Kari, Arya Naveen, Payton Riggs, Angela Zhang, and Isabella Montebelo Septimio .

On a warm Friday afterschool, eleven 5th and 3rd grade girls retrieved 48 balls in good condition. The rescue balls were filled with air and then organized for return to their owners and grade levels. The Girl Scouts also picked up 5 bags of trash and disposed of worn-out balls. They followed the Girl Scouts principles of “Using Resources Wisely” and “Leave No Trace”. They also made a Public Service Announcement video for the Wildcat News encouraging their school community to kindly refrain from kicking the balls over the fence. With the help of Ms. Forney, the Girl Scouts will continue to monitor the area beyond the fence for recess balls and trash. We are so proud of their hard work and the positive change they are bringing to our school community. Please join in congratulating all of these Girl Scouts as we celebrate National Girl Scouts Week March 8-12!

Attendance Matters ALL DAY, EVERYDAY

TAKE ATTENDANCE SERIOUSLY

It’s common for students to experience a significant increase in chronic absenteeism during the winter months due to an increase in typical illnesses. If your child must be absent due to illness, please email WCESResidency@fultonschools.org, your child’s (1) legal first and last name, (2) teacher’s name, (3) all the dates your child was absent, and the (4) reason for missing school. Please also copy your child's homeroom teacher on the email. It is important to include a photo or scanned image of the doctor’s note, if you take your child to be seen. If your child is missing a lot of school due to illness, please reach out to our clinic assistant, Ms. Ankita Doshi, for guidance. Chronic absenteeism occurs when students miss 10% or more of school for any reason.

Additionally, it's important that kids arrive to school on time every day. Please remember that our car rider line can back up closer to 7:30. Consider being in line closer to 7:10 or by having your child ride the school bus to prevent tardies.
