This month, the WSD Board of Education approved hiring Amber Houdei as Duello Elementary's assistant principal, effective July 1, 2023. Amber has seven years of experience in education, one of which has been in the WSD. She currently serves as the assistant principal of Frontier Middle School. Prior to that, she worked as an administrative intern in the Fort Zumwalt School District, and she was a special education and general education teacher in the FZSD for five years. Read more.
This month, the WSD Board of Education approved hiring Dr. Crystal Hunter as principal at Barfield Early Childhood, effective July 1, 2023. Dr. Hunter has thirteen years of experience in education. She served five years as the early childhood special education process supervisor in St. Louis Public Schools, four years as the director of early childhood in the Riverview Gardens School District, and the last five in Normandy School Collaborative as the director/principal of early learning PreK through kindergarten. This month, the WSD Board of Education approved hiring Douglas Cuneio as executive director of student relations, effective July 1, 2023. Cuneio currently serves as the assistant superintendent of student services in the Sullivan School District. Prior to that, he was a principal at Union R-XI High School and a principal and assistant principal at Salem R-80 Junior High. Read more.
Director of Data, Assessment, & School Improvement
Last night, the WSD Board of Education approved hiring Dr. Jill Klahn Smith as director of data, assessment, and school improvement, effective July 1, 2023. Dr. Klahn Smith currently serves as the WSD assessment coach and has been in that role for four years. Prior to her current position, she taught sixth and seventh grade math at Wentzville Middle School and Frontier Middle School, acted as an instructional coach in Clear Creek Independent School District (Tex.), and taught elementary students at Bay County Schools (Fla.). This month, the WSD Board of Education approved hiring Dr. Justin Fears as an assistant principal at Holt High School, effective July 1, 2023. Dr. Fears has sixteen years of experience in education. He served one year as a special education teacher in Francis Howell School District, six years as a regular and special education teacher in the Warren County School District, seven years as the building principal at Alpha Academy in the Warren County School District, and his last two years in the WSD as a special education teacher. Last night, the WSD Board of Education approved hiring Dr. Laura Rowe-Holler as executive director of student services, effective July 1, 2023. Dr. Laura Rowe-Holler has seventeen years of experience in education and has served at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. Dr. Rowe-Holler has been an administrator in the WSD for six years, serving as the Frontier Middle principal the last three. Read more.
This month, the WSD Board of Education approved hiring Dr. Lindsay Burkemper as Discovery Ridge Elementary's assistant principal, effective July 1, 2023. Dr. Burkemper has fifteen years of experience in education, nine of which have been in the WSD. She served six years as an elementary teacher at St. Paul School, five years as an elementary teacher at Discovery Ridge, and the last four years at Discovery Ridge as the school support interventionist. She was the Discovery Ridge teacher of the year in the 2021-2022 school year. Read more.
