Oakestown is hosting a Book Fair

We are excited to be offering an on-site & virtual Book Fair this month in partnership with Rolling Rabbit Books, and independent bookstore located in Byron Center!

Parents and students will find a wonderful selection of engaging and affordable books for every reading level available for purchase online or in person. Best of all, the school will receive 30% of the profit made from the book fair to purchase more books for our school library!

The Book Fair is a reading event that brings the books kids want to read right into our school. Allowing students to choose their own books fosters a lifelong love of reading. Studies show that kids with books at home have higher-level reading skills. When students engage in independent reading, they build confidence in their abilities, making it more likely that they’ll also improve fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary.

The Book Fair will be set up in the commons area just to your right as you come through the main entrance to Oakestown. We would prefer to have parents accompany their students to shop whenever possible.

Monday, February 16
Classes will view a video preview the of book fair in the afternoon, and then it will be open for student and parent shopping from 2:30-6:00 pm.

Tuesday, February 17
Students who are unable to stay and shop the fair after school will be allowed to shop from 11-1pm during lunch (with a shopping pass from their teacher). The fair will be open to students and parents from 2:30-6:00 pm during parent teacher conferences.

Wednesday, February 18

Last call for student shopping in the morning (with a shopping pass from their teacher) until 10:30 a.m. and then the fair will be packed up.

Major credit cards, cash, debit cards, personal check and Apple Pay can be accepted during the in-person book fair.

A poster explaining sales tax will be displayed at the fair, but we do recommend reminder your student about tax.

Rolling Rabbit has also created an online book fair option and orders may be placed between now and the close of the book fair on February 18.

When placing your order through the link below, please select "in store pickup" as your delivery method. Your order will be available for pickup in person at Oakestown Intermediate until Friday, February 20th.

The Book Fair host, Rolling Rabbit Books, is a bookstore dedicated entirely to literature for children and teens located in downtown Byron Center. Owners Zach and Gina Rabitoy opened the store in August of 2023, and they are both Grandville alumni. They are thrilled to be able to put on a magical Book Fair

for your students!
