Out and About in the Schools
This week elementary schools launched their reading acceleration groups, allowing students to get reading instruction at their own learning level to help them build skills and move forward.
Classrooms are using targeted instruction in small groups to help students rebound from the disruption of the pandemic. Recovery funds have been used to provide additional staff to help.

They are posted on the district website under “Student Services” and “COVID-19.”

COVID Testing Information
MSD will again offer optional, at-home weekly screening tests for students. The program runs mostly as it did last year with one major difference: the lab will now mail the test kits directly to your home.

Grizzly Sports
Over 400 student-athletes are participating in our fall sports season!
- Cross Country has a strong group of runners on both the boys and girls teams and are poised to contend for one of the top spots in the league and a potential berth in the state meet.
- Football opened the season by playing a team from Hawaii and regained the coveted Pigeon Bowl trophy by beating rival Forest Grove 42-0 last week.
- Girls Soccer led by new coach and MHS grad Karly (Mechels) Mingus are showing steady improvement in a challenging nonleague schedule.
- Boys Soccer is off to a strong start, while playing an exciting style of attacking, fast-paced soccer.
- The Volleyball team is starting to gel under the direction of new coach, MHS Grad Taylor Petersen. The team is hard working and growing each day.
