PLEASE READ...
Dear Students and Parents/Caregivers,
Next week is the final week of the semester which includes final exams. Part of our attendance policy includes a final exam incentive for students. This has been shared out through attendance communications via the weekly school newsletters since the beginning of the school year. More details can be found by clicking on this link.
Students eligible for the exam exemption on Thursday, January 15th for Periods 4-6, will be allowed to leave school at the conclusion of third hour at 10:36 a.m. and will not be permitted to leave before this time. Students will exit out the main entrance where they will meet their ride or walk to their vehicle. The athletic and band exits will be off limits. Students waiting for the school bus until the end of the day will report to the media center. Please have a conversation with your student to make arrangements for their after school transportation. All students who qualify should be picked up no later than 11:30 a.m.
Students eligible for the exam exemption on Friday, January 16th, for Periods 1-3 do NOT need to attend school. Students meeting the exam incentive expectations will have their attendance recorded as School Activity (ACT) and will not be counted as an absence.
Any class periods a student has NOT qualified for the incentive, must attend and take the exam during that scheduled exam time.
To honor the exam environment, students will not be allowed to leave during a scheduled exam time on both days. If a student finishes early, they must wait until the end of the class period. For example, if a student is required to take their Period 1 exam but not Periods 2 &3, they can leave when the bell rings at the end of Period 1. The office staff will not be calling into classrooms to release students.
If you have any questions, please reach out to the high school office at 517.817.4701.

American Legion Mural
Commander Ron Ebersole contacted NWHS about creating a mural representing 4 branches of the military; the Navy, Army, Marines and Air Force at the American Legion on Lansing Avenue. Some sketches were created by Ms. Evers and a crew of volunteers assembled. Wren Serenity Drake, Ashlee Coffey, Jasmine Breslin, Juniper Blase, Jillian Reynolds and Shayla Smith stepped up to take on the challenge. It took the team of 6 approximately 30 hours to complete the 12’ X 16’ mural. A special thank you to Mrs. Durocher, Mrs. Crandell and Mr. Khon for helping to foster creative excellence in these students. This is a wonderful example of the benefits of a K-12 Art Education program.
Wesco Donations -
Through their ongoing partnership with Pepsi, Wesco is excited to share that—for the third consecutive year—$20,000 in fountain drink profits will be donated to local public high schools.
Throughout the month of December, every Wesco location will donate five cents from each fountain drink sold until the full $20,000 goal is reached. Every participating public high school is guaranteed a minimum of $100 (Northwest is one of those schools), with the remaining funds distributed based on sales at each local store.
