Bellerive Bulletin
October 4, 2026
Dear Bellerive Families,
I’m excited for the week ahead! Start your week by dining at Dewey’s Pizza in Creve Coeur on Monday evening to support our PTO. The ordering details are included below. On Wednesday, we have a half-day and will focus on the 7 Habits and leadership activities.
On Friday, we will come together as a North Area community at the Parkway North High School football game. Join us on the field at 5:30 pm to walk the track and represent Bellerive. Be sure to wear your Bellerive gear!
We also need all hands for Clean the Campus Day on Saturday from 9:00 - 11:00 am. We have several projects to complete, including tidying up after construction and preparing our campus for next Monday’s Leader in Me site visit. This visit is part of the process for Bellerive’s recertification as a Leader in Me Lighthouse School.
PTO's Champions for Children Fundraiser
We’ve made great progress with the PTO’s Champions for Children fundraiser! Families have donated $3,176, helping us reach the first milestone of $2,500. To celebrate, we’ll have an all-school pajama/comfy clothes day on Friday, October 9! Help us reach our next milestone of $5,000 so students can enjoy a movie on the big screen during lunch.
Thank you to everyone who has contributed! You can find ways to donate in the flyer below as we work toward our $7,000 goal by Fall Break.
October: Chart Your Path
Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind
It is time for our Leaders Across the Galaxy to Chart Their Path! This month, we are focusing on Leader in Me's Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind.
Beginning with the End in Mind means thinking about what you want to accomplish before you get started. Students learn to set meaningful goals, make a plan, and keep working toward those goals even when challenges come up. They also learn that plans can change along the way while the goal continues to guide their choices.
At Bellerive, students are practicing Habit 2 in everyday ways, such as:
- Goal Setting (Check out their WIGs in their Leadership Binders!)
- Setting a goal for something they want to learn or improve.
- Making a plan for how they will reach a goal.
- Checking their progress and deciding what they need to do next.
- Adjusting their plan when something does not work the first time.
- Sticking with a goal and celebrating progress along the way.
- Thinking about what they want their finished work to look like before getting started.
- Breaking a big assignment or project into smaller, manageable steps.
One simple way to reinforce Habit 2 at home is to ask, “What are you hoping to accomplish?” or “What is your next step?” Whether your child is working toward a goal at school, learning a new skill, saving for something special, or tackling a project at home, help them identify where they want to go and make a plan for getting there.
Habits at Home
This Wednesday, your child will bring home this month's Habits at Home activity (linked here). These monthly activities give families an opportunity to practice the 7 Habits together at home.
We are adding a little friendly competition this year! The grade level with the highest percentage of participation each month will earn bragging rights and the traveling Habits at Home trophy. The Habits at Home forms are due the Friday before the next (leadership-focused) half-day.
For Habit 2, completed activities are due Friday, November 6. We hope you will Chart Your Path together at home and help your child’s grade level earn this month's trophy!
In Partnership,
Dr. Joey Kneer, Principal

Proposition P Community Webinar on Wednesday
The cost of operating schools is rising faster than funding, creating a projected $75 million shortfall over the next 10 years. Prop P on the November 3 ballot would provide stable funding for Parkway teachers, classrooms, safety, and student support.
Join Superintendent Dr. Melissa Schneider and Chief Financial Officer Carrie Nunn for a Parkway Community Webinar to learn about Proposition P: why it’s on the ballot, and what passage or failure would mean for Parkway schools and our community.
Wednesday, October 7 at 7:00 pm: Livestream the webinar at https://pkwy.info/community-livestream. Can’t make it live? A recording of the presentation will be available.
What would Proposition P support in Parkway schools?
- Attracting and retaining teachers and staff
Safety and security
Classroom resources
Student programs and services
Long-term financial stability
Did you know that before placing Proposition P on the November ballot, Parkway reduced spending by $15.4 million? The reductions impacted every school and department budget, professional development expenses, and other operating costs. Further reductions would increasingly impact students, teachers, programs, services, and classrooms.

NEW INFO
Before School Club Assignments
Club confirmation forms will come home with students on Monday or Tuesday. Please look for a pale yellow paper listing the name and meeting date(s) of the club or clubs your child will attend. Before School Clubs begin Monday, October 19.
Important Car Rider Dismissal Reminders
Car rider dismissal has recently been slowing down, and we need everyone’s help to make dismissal safe and efficient:
Enter the car rider line using the designated route. Please do not make a left turn into the parking lot.
Keep your car rider placard in your vehicle and display it clearly until your child is in the car. We also recommend saving your family number in your phone as a backup.
Remain in your vehicle and pull forward promptly when directed by a staff member.
Please do NOT stop in the line to buckle your child. If assistance is needed, pull forward to the area near the accessible parking spaces.
With nearly 80 cars using the car rider line each afternoon, your cooperation helps us get everyone safely on their way. Thank you for following these procedures!

Celebrating Fall
PTO's Fall Party Assembly
Students will enjoy a fall party assembly at school on the afternoon of Friday, October 30. The World Bird Sanctuary will bring live birds to Bellerive for All About Owls, a fun and entertaining presentation that gives students an up-close look at these amazing animals. This experience is made possible through the support of our PTO. Thank you, PTO!
If you do not wish for your child to participate in this assembly, please email Dr. Kneer (mkneer@parkwayschools.net) prior to Friday, October 23.
Bellerive Celebrations Combined with North High's Track or Treat
Bellerive families are encouraged to attend Parkway North High School's Track or Treat on Wednesday, October 21, and all the details are in the flyer below.
In place of holding a costume parade at Bellerive and rather than encouraging students to wear costumes to school this year, we hope families interested in celebrating Halloween will join us at this fun North area community event.
Dr. Kneer and Dr. Butler are already busy picking out our space-themed Halloween costumes to wear to Track or Treat!
Daily Attendance = Big Impact
Did You Know?
A day of missed school is a lost opportunity for social development. By coming to school every day they’re not sick, your child is gaining social skills that will land them their first job as an adult.
