Got Caught Reading
Can you believe it's already mid-April?
Hello, Amazing Eagles,
Mrs. V. Cantu here!
So many great things happened at Collier in March and April.
- We wrapped up the Read to Final Four competition, and our 3rd graders read an astounding total of 365,103 minutes combined. Way to go, Eagles!
- We also kicked off our Got Caught Reading Campus Initiative! It has been amazing to see the progress we’re making as a campus. Currently, 2nd grade is leading the way in getting caught reading.
- Our Book Club rallied together and did their absolute best at the Battle of the Books! We are so proud of them!
- STAAR testing is upon us, with 1 STAAR down and 2 to go (2 for 5th grade and 1 for 3rd and 4th grades).
- The campus has been buzzing with motivation as we prepare our students for success. Up next are the end-of-year celebrations! There is so much to celebrate.
We have wonderful students here at Collier, and I am both joyful and grateful to be their librarian.

What is happening in the Library?
I have finalized an order for next year's Blue Bonnet and Texas 2 x 2 books! We also used our Scholastic dollars earned from our Fall Book Fair and received an order from Scholastic this week. We should have the new books on our shelves very soon!
Book inventory and technology check-ins are scheduled for next month, so please expect our library to be closed for these events. Dates will be provided at a later time.

Why Makerspaces?
During their visit to the library, students check out books, learn through lessons taught, and engage in activities during Makerspace. They collaborate and communicate with their peers while acquiring hands-on learning skills. Students explore and problem-solve to build their critical thinking abilities.
What series should we add to our collection Next?
Our books will be getting here soon!.
