👨🏻🏫 A Message From Your Principal
Hello Parents,
I hope you are all enjoying an extra day to spend with your families.
We had a busy week of MAP testing for RLA and Math this past week and will conclude with our Science testing this week. We have a number of students arriving without a chromebook. We don't have enough chromebooks to cover all of those who forget them at home or don't charge them. We ask that you ensure your students come to school every day with their chromebook charged and ready to go. Our exam will be on Wednesday this week. The MAP test allows us to see exactly where our students are at the moment and helps our students to make goals on what they hope to achieve as we progress through the year. It is our measuring stick we use to guide our practices as students prepare to eventually take the STAAR exam at the end of the year. Please make sure your student gets enough rest and eats a good breakfast in the morning.
As an update on the HVAC at Howard, we continue to have some rooms having difficulty. Each of those rooms has a chiller placed in it until it can be addressed. My understanding is that most of those still struggling are waiting for specific parts. WISD Facilities continues to work on them and check our rooms that are functioning to ensure students are comfortable. Thank you for your patience in this regard.
Just a reminder about our hours of operations. Our building opens at 7:00am for students to get their breakfast and get settled. They begin moving to their classes at 7:25am and the tardy bell rings at 7:30 when class is supposed to begin. We have a number of students consistently arriving late and ask that you please make arrangements that will allow your students to be on time each day. We completely understand a day here and there but every day will create missed learning opportunities for your students and potential disciplinary consequences if it is a regular occurrence.
Please review the calendar of events so you don't miss anything this week.
Have a great week! BE HOWARD B.R.A.V.E.
Sincerely,
Michael Williams
