Blue Jay Briefings
September 2025
A Message from the Office of the Superintendent
Blue Jay Families,
The 2025-2026 school year is off to a great start. It is great to have everyone back, filling the hallways and the classrooms. Activities and sports have begun and we want to make sure to keep parents updated and give our students opportunities to be involved.
Our focus this year is #MJaysLegacy. We believe that we have the best students, the best teachers, and the best community around. Our staff wants to strive to leave a positive legacy every day as we educate the students of Marshfield R-I. #MJaysLegacy will be our reminder this school year for our district as we continually strive to serve students in our mission statement of "preparing each student for a successful future." The Marshfield R-I School District is very proud of our community and the students that we serve.
Communication will come from the district, buildings, classrooms, and individual teams/activities. Please make sure to keep your contact information updated so we are able to keep you informed. If you ever feel like you aren't receiving communication from the school, please don't hesitate to reach out. Our district will continue to focus on the importance of attendance this year again as well. We believe it is vital for students to be active participants in the classroom in order for them to get the most out of their education.
Thank you for the opportunity to work with your students. We would encourage all families to be active participants in their child's education. We’re looking forward to another great school year as we continue living out our district’s purpose and mission.
Proud to Be a Blue Jay,
Mike Henry

May to Today - A Blue Jay Recap
Early Learning Center
The Early Learning Center is excited to welcome our newest Little Blue Jays! From the very first day, our youngest learners are building a strong foundation for future success through exploration, creativity, and hands-on learning. We are proud to partner with families as we help our Little Blue Jays take their very first steps on their educational journey.
-----------------------------------
Hubble Elementary
Several Hubble teachers start the day with a Morning Message, a routine that strengthens classroom community while giving students practice in reading and writing.
-----------------------------------
Webster Elementary
Third graders had a blast bringing math to life with balloons while learning to round numbers! To make this tricky concept stick, students used balloons as a clear, visual way to understand the rules of rounding. Students counted on their fingers while holding a balloon string. If the number was 5 or greater, they let their balloon “float up” to show that the digit rounds up. If the number was less than 4, they were able to keep hold of their balloon to show that the digit stays the same and does not change. The room was filled with excitement as students actively practiced rounding in a way that was both fun and memorable.
-----------------------------------
Shook Elementary
Students have started their evaluations —and already have shown improvement in their scores! It’s inspiring to see our students approach challenges with a positive attitude and achieve measurable progress.
-----------------------------------
Jr. High School
The new school year is off to an exciting start at Marshfield Junior High! Students and teachers are diving into learning, building connections, and embracing new opportunities. We’re thrilled to see our Blue Jays approach the year with energy, curiosity, and a positive attitude.
-----------------------------------
High School
Our Marshfield High School students were greeted with a huge celebration as they returned for a new school year! Smiles, excitement, and school spirit filled the gym—what a fantastic way to kick off another year of learning and growth.

Student Security Code System
At Marshfield Schools, student safety is our top priority! To ensure this, we use the Student Security Code System for important communications and after-school plans.
For your student to receive changes in after-school plans or any other message (whether by phone call or note), the caller or note must include the assigned Student Security Code.
Additionally, bus notes must include:
- Student name
- Bus number
- Address the student will be traveling to
Please note, students are only allowed to travel by bus to two pre-approved addresses set up for them.
Important Transportation Information
All permanent bus transportation changes must be communicated directly through the Central Office at 859-2120, ext. 0. Do not request permanent bus transportation changes via the classroom teacher or building office.
Key points to note:
- Students are allowed a maximum of three permanent bus changes throughout the school year.
- At any given time, students may be set up for only two transportation addresses.
- New transportation arrangements will be effective two school days after the request is made.
- Students can only travel to permanent addresses listed during online registration. No after-school notes will be accepted for addresses not previously listed by parents.
