Car Rider Reminders
Safety is our #1 priority for students, families & staff
If you or a family member or friend drops off or picks up a child or children in Memorial's Car Rider Line - we NEED your help!!! We need all families to follow car rider procedures. I've asked BPD to assist with arrival and dismissal to assist with straightening our process.
STUDENTS MAY NOT BE DROPPED OFF BEFORE 8:50AM AS THERE IS NO SUPERVISION
Please make a right turn only into Memorial for car rider families.
Do NOT block house driveways or fire hydrants as you may receive a ticket from BPD.
Please organize your car so students may enter your vehicle from the curb (back passenger) side. We do not want students to walk onto the driveway to get in the car behind the driver.
Please be patient as every car has children entering and we want everyone to be safe.
Car Rider families need to wait for the car in front of you to pull away from the circle.
Specifically for Dismissal:
There is NO Parking in the center lot (without permit)- please stay in our Car Rider line.
Recess Reminders
We believe it's important for our students to get outside at all times during the school year. This is an important time for students to socialize with peers in an unstructured setting and get big body movement and a break from academics. We will go outside as long as the weather/temperatures allow. All elementary schools follow the same procedures:
- We go outside as long as temperature is above 20 degrees (with windchill factored in)
- We will go outside at all times during the year (unless weather or playground conditions necessitate us staying inside).
Please make sure your child wears boots, winter coat, gloves, hats, scarves (if desired) and practice at home home to pull on/off all this gear. We want all students to be warm while playing outside during the winter months. All students will go outside each day for recess when we have Outdoor recess.
We know our students have all different preferences...if your child wears shorts or no coat and you're ok with this attire during cold months - please send a quick note to your child's teacher. We don't want to assume they forgot or need cold gear when it's a choice/preference. Thank you so much!!

“B” For Excellence
In the fall, more than 40 outstanding staff members were nominated for the first round of "B” For Excellence Awards! This recognition program celebrates the dedication and impact of BCSD staff who go above and beyond in inspiring, serving, and educating our students. We invite our entire school community - students, parents, colleagues, and community members - to help us spotlight more exceptional individuals by submitting nominations using this LINK. Your nominations allow us to recognize the profound impact our dedicated staff members have on student success.
The second round of nominations closes on January 17th, so please take a moment to acknowledge someone who makes Brunswick Schools extraordinary.
